Hey there,
I'm a completely new body builder and am trying to learn the ropes especially when it comes to nutrition. I did some research and decided to try body recomposition. But I'm unsure whether I should do a slight caloric deficit or caloric surplus, while trying to intake around 150g of protein. I am worried that if I do cut there is not enough muscle underneath to show and I will look really skinny. But I'm also unsure that if I intake enough protein while doing a slight cut whether I will gain any muscle. If I do gain enough muscle while slightly cutting then I'm leaning towards that. If I dont get any muscle while doing a slight cut then I'm thinking of bulking a little first then cutting the fat down later.
I'm 5' 6" and weight 150 pounds.
Attatched below are some pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm really confused. If you need any more information just ask.

You do not need to bulk. You have a lot of stored energy to use for muscle growth. Not to mention that you're a beginner. You will gain muscle in a deficit. I suggest doing a slight deficit, between 300-500 cals. You have the right idea in terms of protein intake. Drink a gallon of water a day, get a good program and keep the progressive overload going. You'll look great in a few months. You actually bothered doing your research. Good for you. Most beginners who want to lose fat/ gain muscle don't even bother actually researching, and learning basics like ideal protein intake before asking us their question
