    Pre workout and diet advice

Hi everyone. I took couple years off going to gym and am now getting back to it. I’ve lost everything.

I’ve tried Shattered revolution, Lit(advanced and clinical). It has not been working and I don’t understand because I took a 2 year break. Looking for that focus and energy. Any recommendations?

I’ve been Only eating 1 entree per day I.e. chipotle(Ck, brown rice) pho, pad thai, pizza but still calorie deficient daily intake. I’m trying to lose a few pounds and it’s not working. Basically I’m trying to avoid going on full blown diet. Any advice?

    So you're not losing weight?
    And you're sure you're in a deficit?

As far as energy, pre's etc...keep in mind, in a deficit, you will be sluggish anyway. You may be looking for that feeling we get with a good pre and extra cals in us.

No I’m not losing any. Yes I’m in deficit as I track calories. I guess you have to eat healthy to lose weight.

    Yeah I understand. Thanks.

TDEE is 2701 and intake is around 1000-1500 per day. but I do eat carbs, sugar, fat, etc...I think WHAT I eat matters here no matter how little.

for instance I'll have chicken burrito bowl only all day with 1 hydrowhey shake. That's not much, right?
and then another day, I'll have footlong veggie subway(460 calories) with handful of almonds and 1 hydrowhey shake.
anther day I'll just have a giant bowl of pho(450 calories) and 1 hydrowhey shake
another day I'll have a pad thai beef(988 calories) and 1 hydrowhey shake and apple or banana.
another day I'll have small pizza by myself 1200 calories and 1 hydrowhey shake.

Also I run 1 mile every night and the lbs are not dropping like I expected. I really didn't want to go on hard core diet eating healthy all 3 meals.

In terms of energy and focus, you can experiment with nootropics like Bacopa Monnieri, Rhodiola Rosea, and also the combo of Caffeine + L-Theanine. They can help you even if you are in a deficit..

If you aren't losing weight then by definition you aren't in a deficit. You may think you are based on calculators or estimates but if you aren't losing weight then you're not actually in one. You don't need to eat health to lose weight, see every starving country ever. Your body may be desperately holding onto water since it looks like you are attempting to starve it but if you keep that up the weight will drop. Or you're over consuming on other days/weekends and bringing up your weekly average. Also if you're eating things like chipotle its basically impossible to accurately track calories since servings sizes are all over the place. Same goes for a lot of take out.

And to be honest the amount of sodium in chipotle and every other takeout is astronomical. Your going to be bloated from all of that salt

What matters is total calories for the day, each day, consistently. If that doesn't change, changing those things won't make him suddenly start to lose weight when he otherwise wasn't

Is there a pre WO that contains all this? I am not familiar with any of these ingredients. Is there a pre workout you recommend?

Ok thanks for the info. I hope this is water weight. I forgot to mention that I am taking 5mg/day of Creatine along with the shakes. Also, I have quit smoking last year and I am taking a prescription medicine which supposedly causes weight gain.

How long have you been running an accurately tracked calorie level?

Do you weigh yourself every day? If so post the data points.

What are you using to track your calories?

Are you tracking every single thing you consume?

For how many consecutive days without exception have you been doing that?

What is your average calories per day during that time?

When do you take your bodyweight, where do you record your bodyweight, and for how many consecutive days have you been doing that?

What was your start bodyweight (day one of the consecutive calorie and weight tracking from above) and what is your bodyweight as of yesterday/today?

    About 2 weeks.

Yes. It’s consistently 181-182lbs in the morning and 185-186lbs in the evening. One day on the morning it was 177lbs but then next day went back to 182. There was nothing to justify this. I didn’t eat differently etc

Start using a free app to track the calories and macros of every single thing you eat.

Take your bodyweight first thing in the morning only and record it as well.

Report back after 14 days of sticking to your calories every single day

Also, out of curiosity, can you list everything (everything) you consumed in the 24 hours before the 177 and the 24 hours between the 177 and the 182?

Yes. Whatever I eat I google calories. It’s easy because I only eat entree once a day at 4 pm. If I do eat anything else it’s so little(grape, cherries, banana, apple, almonds)

    2 weeks.

Avg calories per day is about 1000-1500. But actually it’s probably less. I drink 1 hydro whey shake per day not sure what the calories are there.

I’ve been weighing myself at least for month starting at 189lb at my highest weight. Started eating once a day thing for 2 weeks. I weighed last night and it showed 181 but I did not feel like I lost any.

Farley, I can’t remember exactly but it’s like pad that chicken 24 hours before and pho and the like I listed above. It was not the healthiest but I just had 1 meal.

I was wondering if I start drinking 2 hydro whey shakes, that wouldn’t hurt me right?

    Yes, like my fitness pal.

It's at least as accurate as Googling things, probably more so, and you can simply scan barcodes of packaged foods to have the details entered without typing anything out.

And, probably more importantly, you don't have to guess to within a 500 calorie range, because it's all there in your history and you can swipe through day to day to see exactly how view all kinds of historical graphs and charts

Usually when people who are eating similar calories every day, and weighing every day, have a day that spikes higher, usually anyway, it's from a lot of sodium or carbs + sodium the day before.

Your total calories and macros for the day, each day, is what really matters

So, like, if you want to try to preserve muscle, a day where the only thing you eat is a veggie sandwich from subway is not what you want.

Apps are killing the web, and super quick, shallow social media dominated by professionals with their groupies are sort of ruining apps

Traffic is generally down across forums of all kinds

It's also restrictive on what you can and can not talk about on this forum, and the web store has been going downhill
