I'm in a bind when it comes to getting a car. If I'm buying new I'm looking at the Kia Forte GT or EX. Consumer Reports doesn't have very good numbers from previous model years. That said they have the 2019 Kia Optima really high for which there are a handful still on dealer lots with $7,000 off MSRP. I'm just looking for personal opinions and/or experiences with the Forte or whether I should just go with the Optima?

They're decent cars for what they are.....they don't claim to be a sports car. They are reliable daily drivers, cheap, good gas milage, fantastic warranty, decent resale value.
OP I'm in the car market for a commuter myself - I drove the Forte GT trim (not the GT engine) and it was alright - boring and uninspiring, but nothing wrong with it.
Have you looked at VW Jetta or Passat? I think they are a little more refined

My best bro has a 2011 Kia Forte coup with over 300k on it. He's shopping for a new Kia k5 I think it was called.
And my buddy is a cheap ****, always did the cheapest repairs possible, got used tires... Etc etc. He beat the piss out of it.
Say what you want about Kia but idk I think they are alright.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

Actually not a bad decision depending on how much you drive. 10k mi/year and you have a fully warranted brand new car for 10 years. Or for the same price a used fart box with 30-50k miles and maybe a 3 year warranty
Those cars don’t cost much to begin with, 7k off would be hugeLast edited by blazenbb; 08-13-2020 at 02:43 PM.

ive said it before and ill say it again. 100k warranties are just a marketing tool designed to fool the common person into thinking they are getting a great deal. The reality is that 99.9% of Hondas/Toyotas will go 10 years or 100k miles with zero non-recall problems. People dont realize that warranties are only made to protect against manufacturing defects, and 99.99% of manufacturing defects will show within 40-50k miles.
also just so happens that almost every single car doesn't start having mechanical issues untill it passes ~100k miles. funny how that works, 100k warranty is about as useful as a 2nd butthole.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Great... Also, not even trolling but you've got a mis-informed and horrible taste in cars.
718 PDK.. Why mention PDK? Poseur much? "I'm so fawkin cool I got a PDK yo!". The vast majority are PDK... Why 718? By far, the WORST Cayman/Boxster ever made. The car sounds like ASS with the neutered 2.0 4 banger. Don't even tell me tuning potential because there's much better out there. The flat 6 is where it's at. A much more thrilling, enjoyable ride. Find yourself a 981 Boxster/Cayman GTS, or even an S instead. The only, and I mean ONLY upgrade the 718 has over the 981 is the updated PCM. The steering wheel can be swapped to look more modern... Not only all that, a manual transmission (especially a Porsche MT) are much more engaging. A flat 6 981 with a manual is total bliss. Even if you don't want the manual, whatever.. The flat 6 is in a different league... The engine, exhaust combo are visceral. It builds power nicer. Sounds G.L.O.R.I.O.US. meanwhile the 4 cyl turbo sounds like it's farting. The only reason Porsche went with the turbo motor is to meet CAFE standards. Sales suffered, values suffered, hence the reason the flat 6 made a return in the 718 GTS models with the detuned 4.0.
M3, just LOL. What a sad, sad, sad excuse for an M car that is. Then again, you're proud of a stupid ass corny Stinger which is nothing more than a knock off for peasants. You're in over your head brah.
Step your game up, you're inexperience and that's okay. Hopefully you take this constructive criticism and make good use of it.
OP, sorry for the thread derail.

Kia isn't bad at all. They'll be moggin mainstream. Telluride and the next gen "minivan" destroy the competition. My dad bought a K900 the other day and its a solid bargain for the segment. He's rich though so even if he loses his ass on that particular vehicle eventually, he'll still see his enjoyment as worth it. I have a Telluride on order for the wife.
