    Recomp

    Hey, I’m currently 5 ft 5 160 lbs. my abs and obliques are still visible but I’m on the fence about continuing to bulk since I still have some annoying chest and back fat. However also don’t want to cut. Do you think it would be better to continue to bulk at a 250 calorie surplus, or drop to maintenance calories and do a recomp.

    Try it

    Eat at maintenance and see if you can still make steady progress. You can experiment with just above or just below. In practice, it's hard to stay at exactly maintenence anyway. Try pushing it down if you want to reduce your weight - but keep a close eye on progress otherwise it can stop being recomping and just be a rather slow cut.

    Optimal is probably a mini-cut followed by more bulking but only you can decide if that is appropriate for your goals or not.

    I would pick one or the other (cutting or bulking) and just focus on that. Avoid mental gymnastics.
