So in order to protect children from unknown, uncommon and unverifiable long term consequences of a virus that seldom leads to negative outcomes for children, we’re going to deprive them of social interaction and substandard education. The consequences of depriving children of those things are well known.

It’s extremely unlikely your house will burn down as a consequence of leaving your stove on, but eating raw meat will certainly lead to sickness from food-borne pathogens. The testing isn’t accurate. Hospitalizations only show patients in hospital with corona, not because of it. It literally doesn’t separate a person on a vent from corona from a person who is asymptomatic and getting a knee replacement. The calculation of deaths with covid is very liberal also. It would be sensible to only attribute coronavirus to deaths in the absence of any other explanation-which is exactly why they aren’t doing that.

One child a week in a nation of 330 million people and that is used as justification to not open schools. According to several NYT articles, the positive rates could actually be 10x higher than reported. If true, the death rate would actually be .03%
The average age of death by covid = 80. For context the average life expectancy in the US is 78.
Chances of PPL under the age of 55 dying is statistically 0.

Yet we are continually told these rationalizations like the above. Gonna go out on a limb and guess this will only stop until after Nov. 3rd.

I get it. I actually don't want school to start back up though - but mostly because we know someone is going to get it and the overreaction is going to be worse than just not opening schools in the first place.

Personally - I think sending young kids, like fifth grade and under is going to be damaging to the psyches having to follow the new rules.
