Whats the best way to secure a C8 order?

I would like to purchase a 2022 C8. I know some of you fellas have experience with this, so I'd like to trade in my 2018 mustang gt for one. Do I just trade in once I get a production number or do I have to sell the car first?

C8s are like elite supercars now...You basically have to have bought numerous Vettes and or know someone to get one.

My father in law has already had two C8s, has a 2022 on order and a Z06 on order/allocation. He worked for GM and has bought 70+ Vettes through the same dealership over the years. People show up with bags of money to buy a Vette and get refused. The only reason he gets them is because of the relationship he built with the dealership owner and the amount of money he has moved through the dealership.

People like my father in law will get three new Vettes before a person off of the street gets one. The trick is to know or find someone who has bought numerous work trucks, cars, etc through a single dealership and get them to hook you up. My father in law has hooked up numerous of his close friends get an allocation for hard to find/get Vettes over the years (Zr1/Z06s) while no one else could get them. Like everything its who you know and not what you know.

There are the people that have ordered them and get them but its a long shot.

This is true for maybe your local dump dealership who charges a $20k+ "market fee" on every new vette, but not with the big boys, Kerbeck, Macmulkin, etc.


OP your best bet at this point is to custom order one through Macmulkin Chevrolet. They charge MSRP, no BS fees or mark-ups. To get on the list it's $1k refundable deposit, I believe they are at 900 or so people long, but they also get 80-120 corvette allocations per month so the wait is not too bad! You will be waiting no matter what, unless you pay the big dealer mark-ups. You can have the car shipped to you for $1k~. Check out the C8 forums on corvette forums, lots of good info there.

BTW I am on the Z06 list there at MSRP, expecting a 2024 at #400~.

I saw an in-state dealer offering c8s for sale on autotrader at msrp and it just seemed like they were full of chit. I followed their link and its for pre-orders that they can't possibly fulfill. Really bent my stick.

This. I’m around 500 on the list at MM for a Stingray and made my deposit back in May.

Dont you want to wait for the e-ray or z06 OP? I was going to sell my c7 for a c8 z51 but i think id regret not going with one of the widebody models. plus they updated the rear end.
