A big one people will say is 'health' a bit of bodyweight training MAX really just cardio will keep you alive the longest. Don't go too intense too often.
Any other benefits for looks etc are bull**** made up in the delusional minds of men. Women don't give much of a **** as long as the guy is 7+/10 face and tall he can bang many women. Just be lean. **** working out hard ever again
Any other benefits are retarded. I can't even think of the kind of **** you gymcels will respond to this with but if it ain't based around fun actual fun even if you weren't building muscle you are doing it wrong.
Its an egoic sport and offers nothing to the advancement of ones mind or spirit.
You'd get more out of meditating for the whole time you'd usually go to the gym.
Its the mind gym.
Try it phuckers or just keep flexing and still have your girl stolen by a skinny crack head chad with model genetics.

Functional strength is a chit argument because when do you need to bench 225? Or 315+? When? That's why I said MAX you should do is bodyweight. Its helpful to move your own weight easily. Depending on what you want out of life. To be able to deadlift 500lbs that doesn't get you anywhere in the real world other than a bunch of other gym rats respect. You won't need to lift that much off the ground ever I doubt not even once. If you did someone else would grab it too. These are all chit arguments. Do it because you love it and I have a feeling less people REALLY love it. They like the false sense of accomplishment . bigger weight and muscles. Doesn't help you get away from your ego it actually makes it worse.

Yeah losing muscle because I'm moving past my ego
You will be obsessed with maintaining your current size for life. If you don't eat as much for a while or skip training you'll shrink because the human body builds muscle when absolutely necessary and will eat it to keep brain and organ function
Its not a look good thing it costs calories to maintain a lot of muscle. Everyone unless subhuman has a natural amount of muscle without working out and that is VERY easy to maintain and isn't as easy to lose.
People think muscle is just visual forgetting what it takes to create it for SURVIVAL not to flex on the gram

Yea ok have fun grappling with a 200 pound fatso and being smothered to death because you're too pathetic to defend yourself. Benching itself isn't functional, but developing shoulder, chest, and tricep strength/endurance has it's benefits. If you can't imagine a scenario where certain muscle groups are useful in real life, maybe you should leave the basement and do some physical manly activities.

Typical ******* response. 'Manly' activities. Drop the internet persona. This isn't a masculinity contest. Obviously some strength can be useful but most people aren't lifting incredibly heavy things or grappling 200lbs fatasses. If you are even grappling with bigger people you are doing it wrong. I also doubt you even fight at all EVER its not a regular thing for most and doesnt justify spending time in the gym. You can easily lift 50 or 100 pounds with both hands even if you don't work out. Most people are lifting heavy things on their own other than weights. Keep lying to yourself.

Against my better judgment I'm going to ignore the fact that OP is a red ******* and address the point in bold. Truly "functional" strength is relative. You are correct that you will probably never be in a situation outside the gym that you have to pick 500# off the ground.
However, let's take 2 people. Guy A has a max deadlift of 200#, guy B has a max deadlift of 500#. Now, Guy A and Guy B are both going to pick up a 50# object 5,000 times overall in their day to day lifetime. For guy A, that is 25% of his maximal lifting capacity, a not insignificant percentage. However, for guy B, that is a mere 10%. Relatively speaking those 5,000 picks will produce a lot less wear and tear on guy B over the course of his lifetime because he is only lifting 10% of what his body is capable of versus 25% for guy A.
There, I just disproved the theory that being able to deadlift 500# is not beneficial for everyday life.Permabulk/bloatlord Crew

This. You don’t necessarily have to lift weights but doing some type of hard labor or exercise makes you strong as ****. Look at tradies. I know tradies that are skinny fat but could probably beat the **** out of some of the biggest guys on these forums. I agree after a certain size no one really cares but lifting has aesthetic rewards. People will find the lean 180 guy more attractive than the lean 150 guy but the 200 lb meat head isn’t anymore attractive than the 180 guy , some women might even be turned off by the me Olympia look.

You obviously never had a good physique, because you would know the effect it has on women. Having a nice physique is fine, but having a good physique and making it your whole identity is the problem.
brb cut off shirts
brb every instagram post is a body pic
brb yoga pants
The key is to obviously look like you lift but never bring up anything related to it in conversation.
