RDR2 is good, but in a way, I like RDR more. RDR2 suffered the same way GTA4 did; too much realism. I want my game to control like a fukking game pls.

GOW beat it for GOTY that year for a reason. At least it's actually a fkn game

RDR2 is just cowboy simulator to the max. Slow af, have to wait for an animation for EVERYTHING, the story was predictable, and the gameplay is the same chit it has been for every GTA/Red Dead. If you can immerse yourself in the sim and story, it's cool, but you will never think the actual gameplay is fun.

GOW on the other hand has fkn fantastic gameplay. The devs just aped the combat in Dark Souls games (though not quite as good) along with the interconnected level design from Bloodborne, and they made a game ten times better than the previous trilogy. The story was better than in Red Dead too, with legit fkn twists.

Easy choice.

Nope. GoW rode the coat tails of the previous GoW games that were actually good to GotY. Nothing more. It was a 8/10 game at best. RDR2 was way better.

BTW Red Dead 1 beat God of War 3 back in 2010 for GOTY. 3 was the best of the previous entries and even it got wrecked. God of War 2018 was the real deal. Red Dead 2 is a 6/10 as an actual video game (you could place it higher for the narrative sim aspects, but actual gameplay was abysmal). God of War is a solid 9.

...Weird because when I made a thread after I beat it earlier this year I was told by people who played the older ones that the older ones were "way better" than the latest one.
I wouldn't know. Never played the older ones and the newest one bored me to death so I will never play them.

I dont know what thread that is, but GOW 4 is far and away the best game of that series.

They're both excellent games. I'm currently playing through GOW again.

They're not exactly comparable so it depends on what you want imo.

. I personally enjoyed the story of God of war more but I'll give respect where it's due...rdr2 is great.
