Do you run or do a lot of cardio? A RHR in the 40s is generally very healthy and a sign of a fit cardiovascular system. If it gets down to 35 or below I believe it can become dangerous. Generally 40-60 is considered "athlete" range.

Mine is also in the 40-50 range usually. At one point when I was running every day it was down in the 30s.

TBH the fact that you had heart palpitations combined with a super low resting heart rate, seems weird not to get it checked out. Any other symptoms???

Also, I always thought that sort of super low heart rate normally occurs in very conditioned athletes, 46 is literally the low end of what is already considered low.

    **I am not medically qualified**

A resting heart rate below 60 is called bradycardia and for Joe Average a doc would be interested in why it's lower than 60. It can be lower than 60 due to being fit and athletic especially endurance athletes (elite endurance athletes can have very low heart rates). It can be low due to the blood supply for the heart muscle itself being poor (and other cardio reasons). It can be slow due to drugs that depress the CNS - like the one you mentioned.

Personally, as an unqualified internet weirdo, a combination of being fit and taking medication could definitely explain 46 and it wouldn't worry me.

But if you have concerns you should ask an actual doctor rather than internet forum

If it suddenly went down to 46 after previously being say 60 and you have no explanation for it then I would see a doc and get an EKG. If you just happened to check it and realize it's 46 with no knowledge of what it's been over the last several months then it's probably not a concern assuming you can get it to go up pretty high with cardio.

If you're worried at all then I'd go to a doc and ask if you should get an EKG for the peace of mind. Peace of mind goes a long way with health things. We are not allowed to mention specific drugs but the one you mentioned can decrease heart rate and if you're taking it for anxiety and are worried about this all the more reason to get checked out.

You're asking if an extremely powerful CNS depressant can lower heart rate?

Would you prefer if 1 or more of the 4 doctors told you there's major problem?

Bradycardia (heart rate below 60) is not usually a serious issue without other symptoms and is probably just a sign of your health and fitness

If your doc didn't find any issues with your heart (and they 100% would after all those tests) then you have nothing to worry about

I find it odd that you want doctors to be alarmed. If several doctors have done extensive testing on you and told you you're fine what else are you looking for. Everyone on this forum is going to tell you to listen to your doctor. Tts just weird and the first time I've come across a situation where it's telling someone to listen to their doctors good news....
