What would it take for mahomes to surpass brady at this point? Imo he would have to have 1 ring over brady. Some can argue that since he lost to tom that will always be a cloud over his legacy. But let's say mahomes wins 5 or 6 at the end of his career and has way better stats, would that do it? Or would you think he has to have more rings. All hypothetical of course. What brady did will stand for a long long time but records are meant to be broken. Mahomes is the only guy realistically right now that has a shot.

Not all teams match up well against them, but the Bucs "blueprinted" the way to beat the Chiefs.
Tough physical LBs to take away Kelce
A good pass rush to fluster Mahomes
Two safeties to take away Hill
If I'm in the AFC, I'm building my team around being able to stop Mahomes with players that match up well to stop them. The Chiefs will still have success, but I think teams learn and find ways of slowing down the Chiefs unlike in the past.
With that being said, it's hypothetically possible for Mahomes to catch Brady. He's got time on his side. When Marino threw for 63k yards no one thought that would be beaten. When Montana won 4 rings no one thought that would be beaten. Here we are saying no one will win 7 or more rings, so who knows.New England Patriot

Certainly it’s possible
Someone wins the super bowl every year and he’ll only have to win it 7 more times
Some three peats would probably help his cause. Something that’s never been done. It will take probably at least 8+ though before the yeah buts stop since Brady took 2 rings off his fingers already.

Mahomes would have to blow past brady's career stats which should be possible if he keeps playing at his current level for another 20 years. But that is asking a lot.
Take the TD title from Tom. Currently at 581. Good chance if Brady plays 3 more years he gets that in the mid 600 range.
Take the yards title from Brees (though brady will probably have this too if brees retires before him). Currently at 80k. Good chance its close to 90+k if brady plays another 3 years.
And then statpad another 10-20%.
100,000+ yards.
700+ TDs.
Mahomes is at 114 Tds and 14k yards currently so he has a LONG ways to go.
Then he needs at least 5 Championships. I don't think he needs to get to 7 or 8 because football is a team sport. But he needs enough to show that he clearly can win it all. He will also need to grab the super bowl mvp at least 4 or 5 times. No riding someone else's coat tails to wins.
Overall chances we call Mahomes the new goat in 20 years... very slim.

I hate these posts so much. It makes no sense to evaluate a player solely on the number of championships they won. The value of a player is their overall contributions to the team in high-leverage situations. It's this lazy logic that would lead people to say 15-16 Peyton Manning was a better player than 09-10 Peyton Manning.

Anything can happen but no I don't think so. He would have to win 7 more rings. It's entirely possible he doesn't win another ring and he joins Russ, Brees and Rodgers in the single ring club. His legacy will be losing in 3 quarters only to have a comeback at the very end to win his one ring, and then getting annihilated by a 43 year old and not throwing a TD the following year.
Mahomes is SHOOK!

How am I coping? Brady has been the undisputed GOAT since the SB with the Falcons. What you're saying is Bill Russell is the GOAT, since he's won the most NBA rings. Or does he not qualify because winning in the era means nothing?
You Brady nuthuggers are ****ing insufferable. Anything short of not juggling his balls with your uvula is coping...AcetylCoA gets reps

Pretty stupid to equate Bill Russel and Tom Brady.
Brady has the Rings, but he also has the stats and accolades as well as longevity.
And being in an extremely more competitive era in his sport.
With that said, Bill Russel is in pretty much everybody's top 3-5 Because of his championships and anchoring all
Time great teams.
So you look dumb from both angles.
