I'll just type the cliffs as short as possible but there's a lot:
>Go into work at 7pm at a casino diner(sucks dick)
>Get a phone call about 30mins into my shift.
>Roommate saying he thinks he's having a seizure. His brother gets them. I gotta' get him.
>Tell the manager the situation real quick and he says it's cool.
>Get back home quickly. See roommate on couch.
>White as a ****ing ghost. Shaking hard. Hands stretched out. His tongue is sticking out of his mouth and is swollen.
>Speaks to me as best he can "I'm having trouble breathing".
>Get him in my car and speed to the nearest hospital. Ran a red because Reno lights take a ****ing week.
>Get him into ER.
From this point forward I swear on my mother's grave this happened and not only was it a nightmare but only the half of it.
>Tell the two receptionists he might be having a seizure and they Bert stare me. K fuk' u den'.
>Have to wait for a literal 350-420lb man in a wheel chair getting signed away to see a doctor for God knows what.
>Get roommate signed in.
>Now have to wait for the other patients that came in before us, including:
>Two tweakers claiming to be ill but in reality are just super ****ed up on whatever.
>This old woman who keeps coming in and out of the building looking for her friend in an ambulance.
>At one point she looked at me and my bro and said if she didn't get to see her friend she would "Expose herself to the hospital".
>Had an older woman in a wheelchair arrive in obviously extreme pain and throwing up into a bowl she had. Sobbing.
>All the meanwhile the receptionists and nurses are literally talking about New Girl and How I Met Your Mother while drinking Starbucks.
>Almost 2 hours later, the only people haven't to be seen are my roommate and the old woman dying next to us.
>I'm pissed at this point.
>Nurse finally comes out for us just to tell us the doctor will be with you shortly.
>Got my ****ing hopes up there, didn't ya' bitch?
>2 hours later he's in. While I leave to go back to work, half the dip****s at the front counter tell the others they're going home for the day.
>Old woman STILL dying in an actual corner.
>wtf?
>Get back to work and we're slammed and a **** ton of dishes for me to do.
>Played catch-up until about 2am.
>I'm glad Tik Tok is banned.

A 4 hour wait time is not bad. Used to work at a hospital and when ER was slammed people would come in the morning and if admitted wouldn't get a bed until midnight.
Hospitals are filled with the scum of the Earth. Normal responsible people generally don't ever see a hospital bed barring some sort of congenital disease. And the workers are usually just numb to everything like any other job. They get grinded down into complacency.

Don't know yet, but I have a feeling it might have something to do with alcohol withdrawls since he's always been a drinker but went clean for a few months. But yesterday he binged hard and told me he did the math and figured out that he drank a beer every 34mins for around 8hrs.
This is why I don't drink.Always Picks 4 Crew

Lol at least you're in the USA. Back in my teens in canada I got a trashy chick pregnant by accident (long story), while trying to convince her to get an abortion she had a miscarriage. We called an ambulance to drive us to the nearest hospital for some "free" Healthcare.
She was losing tons of blood but the emergency room was packed, like it is every single day, and got told to wait in a corner.
She's crying, bleeding and wringing in pain the entire time.
13 hours later we see a nurse, she gives the chick some painkillers, examines her uterus and confirms that nothings left of the baby and that the bleeding has stopped.
We basically waited 13 hours for painkillers. Tax money well spent.

OP, if it was that emergent, then you or your roommate’s brother should have called EMS. They would have gotten you a room ASAP in the closest ER. Long wait times for things that aren’t that serious are common in ER’s. Before the pandemic, a lot of people used the ER’s as an urgent care/substitute for your primary care doctor. With the pandemic going on, ER’s have shifted to essentially offering these services because so many clinics are closed now.
And it’s common for patients and families to think that their conditions are far worse than they actually are. It wasn’t that emergent, as your friend is still alive. Same with the people that were in the waiting rooms. Had anyone actually been dying, they would have been seen immediately. They likely did a set a vitals on your friend when he first came in and found his pulse, BP, and spO2 to be within a normal range.Attract toxic girls but I'm not toxic crew

First part is not a possibility, as his brother is severely autistic and also in the next state over. Nobody else was home at the time, but I work about a 5min drive away and the nearest hospital wasn't far. So **** an ambulance bill, ya know.
2nd part is valid. But I did keep my cool with the thought in the back of my head that there's obviously some smart-guy medical **** I'm missing here. I'm not gonna be 'that guy'.Last edited by Dogolog22; 08-03-2020 at 03:57 AM.

If he hasn’t drank in months then drank just one day I don’t see how that’d cause withdrawals that severe. That is, unless he was just really unlucky and stranger things and all. Maybe I’m way off considering I’m not medicalbrah but the Wd thing just seems unlikely.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

Hospitals here are a fuking joke. They're abysmally mismanaged. I once broke my leg running. Split my tibial plateau. Extreme pain and swelling instantaneously. I thought I had dislocated my knee and was really holding off going to the hospital but it just kept getting worse so I went. I sat in the waiting room for 23 HOURS. I had to sleep in a wheelchair cuz I couldn't walk and had to practically beg a nurse to give me regular strength aspirin every 4 hours for the pain. And when I did, she acted as though I was bothering her.
I eventually get called in. There's 1 FUKING DOCTOR working that night. The entire emergency wing of the hospital - 1 doctor. He looks at me, says it might be a fracture, gives me a prescription for a mild pain killer, puts on a makeshift temporary cast (fuking piece of cardboard), tells me to go home and keep off it and that the hospital will call me later in the week with an appointment for an x-ray. I go home, extreme pain, delirious from lack of sleep, go to bed.
Absolute fuking joke. I'd rather die in a cottamn ditch like an animal than go back to the ER.*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*

yeah most health care sucks, NHS here is just as bad or worse. i 'member when i sent to a private hospital to get something checked, the receptionists were all showing me with offers of coffee tea and biscuits and were very kind. got seen within 10 minutes and the doc gave me a care plan to get free treatment on the NHS.

I cut off the tip of my finger like 12 years ago. Took 5 hours of me sitting there bleeding non stop to see anyone. 2 hours after that I finally see an actual doctor and he says "Do you have the part that got cut off?, No, well then there is nothing I can do" he leaves, nurse makes me dip it in iodine and puts a bandaid on it and sends me home.
$900. And thats with full insurance coverage.
From then on if its less than 2 stitches I just super glue it and call it a day.
