Finally picked up this game for cheap after lots of recommendations.

Game is pretty fking legit. Lots of fun side games, very interesting story, city looks amazing if you're into 80's Japan, and the fighting is 9/10 fun.

but...


I seriously don't know if I can finish it. The cut scenes are never. fking. ending. and some are long AF. I want to keep playing because the rest of the game is awesome, but getting through the never ending cut scenes is fking brutal.

Yeah the Yakuza series(and Judgement) are extremely cut scene heavy, but they're well worth it.

I've played almost every Yakuza and it's one of my favorite series of all time, Judgement(a spin off) is incredible too, I liked it almost more than Yakuza.

Yakuza 0 is the prequel, so it gives you a lot of back story if you do plan on playing the rest of the series, however it is not necessary at all... You can play the games out of order and you won't be too terribly confused, but since they're all available now just start with 0

That end fight scene in Judgement, when Tak looks sidewards with the lightening flashing in the background . Fwark. Fights don’t get much more epic than that! Hnnng.

Judgement had better character relations/dynamics for me (Tak and Kaito were an amazing duo) than Yakuza...Though I do prefer the Yakuza series and character general.

I wonder how Y7 is going to perfrom without Kaz though? I will pre-order for sure but I will certainly admit to being a little apprehensive. Lol

So I haven't played a recent one but people seem to generally agree that 0 is the place to start. It's the beginning and it's the best (again, as I hear it).

The yakuza games are story-driven action games with JRPG and light open-world elements.

You spend a lot of your time doing mundane tasks, beating up groups of bad guys, and just generally living put your life in Japan.

The Yakuza series is really great but it's not for everyone. The games can get sort of repetitive.

BTW, how hot are Czech girls ?

I think it's fine. They ended the Kiryu side of the franchise with 6 and now starting with 7 they are taking things in a new direction for the series going forward. If that new direction isn't some peoples thing then that's fine and nobody is forcing them to buy the game if they don't want to. Just view it as the Yakuza series ended with 6 and this is the start of a new primary series within the overall world and franchise because despite the 7 in the name that is pretty much what this is. They are maintaining the numbering because the devs themselves view it as a mainline Yakuza game and are giving it the focus and dedication that comes with that designation but it's still pretty much a soft reboot designed to branch off into it's own thing rather than directly continuing from the previous games.

Overall I think they've handled this well. They gave fans of the previous characters and style a game to finish things off on and with that done I'd say it's fair for them to be allowed to move on and take the series fresh start in whatever direction they want to take it.

Judgement is 60% off right now on the PS store, $31CDN so probably like 25 for you Americans. I highly recommend anyone who enjoyed Yakuza to go pick it up, it's one of my favorite games of the PS4 generation and does a lot of things far better than Yakuza.

Yakuza 0 is one of the best storywise tho apparently.. yakuza kiwami is a slight downgrade but ive heard kiwami 2 is good (playing that rn)

Some of them are still drawn out and boring...but this one was 10/10 amazing for sure.

Loved the game, but stopped playing because new games came out and it went deep into my backlog. Maybe I'll get back to it and finish it off, even though I'll have no clue what's going on in the story or what I've done.

I'm at the part where you had the meeting with those 3 lieutenants about that empty lot and being set up. I have to go to the loan shark/credit leader, I think I'm still chapter 1. Thought looked cheesy from screenshots before of the scenery looking cartoonish, but it's pretty good, has that old vibe of that time. You go to a phone booth to save? no auto save?

All of those character intros wore me out. Ex: Hideo Yagasaki, leader of Tojo Clan.....Kosuke Yoshinoya, patriarch of Dojima Clan, etc etc

Yes, phone booths and, later on, office phones are the only places you can save. There's no auto save.

Sorry you only played half the game then. They can be long, and some are in fact kinda boring. But skipping cut scenes on this game = you may as well just not play it at all. About half way through, the cut scenes stopped bothering me as they got really good and interesting.

I did the same for Kiwami and Kiwami 2, but still played and beat each game with 30+ hours total racked up for each of them. Did roughly half of the total substories for each game as well. Combat and the lolzy substories were the main draw for me.

There's some pretty hilarious little side missions too. Most are really funny and they don't eat up a lot of time, which is nice as I hate side missions that end up being a long drawn out thing that distracts me form the main story for too long.

Sounds like you're near the end if mofo's are dyin all over the place. I couldn't put it down in the last 4 or so hours of the game. Did you do the real estate, cabaret club minigames?

Yeah, I only have 3 chapters left brah.
Yeah, I messed with the cabaret and real estate stuff some. TBH I found it kinda clunky in terms of messing with it on mouse and keyboard since they designed it all around console controls, so I didn't spend a lot of time with it.
