Dropped $3k on a home gym thanks Newsom

Should have done this a long time ago, but didn’t have the money or space. And with cuck newsomes second shutdown for god knows how long I decided to pull the plug.

I’m so excited boyos. Got a rack, adjustable bench, adjustable dumbbells, 400+ pounds in weight, a barbell, dip stand. All new. Let’s go!

For the barbell I went with Titan Fitness basic barbell. It was $120 after shipping and had solid reviews. I will get a better one if needed later on.

For the rack I was lucky to get the fitness reality one off amazon for $250. It has great reviews. Already installed it yesterday and it’s pretty freaking solid. Great rack for that price.

    Repped .
I built one years ago ,not because I didn’t like my local gym, but because I was getting sick way to frequently.
After work we were only a few feet apart , as everyone wants to be their after 5 .
Quit going to our gym and made it a decade before I got a flu bug again . Handy having access to your equipment if you feel you want to get another set in a little later also

Unless this were going to last 3 more years, I still can't really see why anyone would pay the money for a full home setup. Maybe if I lived in the absolute middle of nowhere? But still though, considering it's $25 per month for a membership to a nice gym and I can't imagine gyms actually being closed more than another 30-60 days, I feel like this decision would be regretted.

Yup definitely agree. Gyms aren’t very clean. However, for me I’m looking at the time I’m going to save coming home from work, eating, getting ready, driving to and back from the gym, etc. Also in Los Angeles at peak hours gyms are crowded. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

You really can't see why someone would want a home gym? Strong critical thinking skills.

I think my problem wasn’t so much the gym not being clean , as being in very close proximity to hundreds of people .
Being in LA , I couldn’t comprehend what you’ve gotta go threw . Just wow

I went with Rogue pretty much everything. Except for the powerblocks. They were the easiest to find restocked equipment.

There are people who haven't broken stride in training all year thanks to having a home gym setup. Good luck with your gym goals.

Home gyms are cool but I would miss the atmosphere and the girls
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

That's awesome OP! I'm so jelly of people who have the space for racks and more equipment. I can get by with the limited stuff I have but it would be nice to have more variety. I just have no room for it.

I built one 5 years ago for $1600 with everything in the OP.
That's basically 2 years gym membership. Not including gas ect, so I have said a good 2k already.
The best part is it is open 24/7. Unfortunatly it is only so big and can't add new equipment untill I get a new house, so may rejoin a gym in a month as I'm finally getting back in great shape and need more suplementary exercises.

3k you got ripped off OP.

Lots of quality workouts available for free on youtube with no or minimal equipment required.

I use this to tone my thighs and glutes. My glutes are so strong now I need 2 bands.

Thanks. I have everything I really need now. There's also a homemade deadlift platform in the back room. As for the powerblocks I like them a lot. I've mostly just been doing barbell work so haven't used them as much as I'd like. But it's nice to have them. So far I haven't used them for anything over 40lbs lol mostly get used for side raises and curls.

Moving into the 5th month with no end in sight, I may never gym again.

Wish I had bought stuff in February

You can build a platform for pretty cheap, OP. I think I spent less than $400. Used two layers of two sheets of plywood, a sheet of a nicer hardwood for the top center section, and three horse stall mats. I also built a section off of the 8' x 8' platform for the rack to go on.

I live within a 10 min bike ride from my gym, so gas isn't much of a consideration. I can absolutely see the appeal of having a home gym during this time, but I just feel like a lot of people are going to have a bunch of gym equipment laying around that they no longer use after it's over. Combined with things I don't have at home such a hot tub and decent social scene, I'd never consider getting rid of my membership.

Gotcha. Glad you like them man. They were pricey, but no regrets as everyone has positive things to say about powerblocks.
