Went to signup to PSN for the first time and my email was in use. Sent a password reset to it, and it just says:
"Hi mark
Thanks for letting us know you need to change your account password.
Update it by clicking the button below."
What should I do?

Well what did you do after that? Shouldn't you get a password reset in your email inbox now? Follow the steps after that.
Also, how was said person able to verify your email when they signed up using it? Are you sure you never setup a PSN account randomly online sometime in the past? Maybe someone else you know? Friend/pal?

I had this happen once and I accidentally stole someones account like this. I think it was youplay but it might have been EA or one of those other ones. I can't remember now its been several years ago. It was a good while back and I guess at the time when it was originally made they didn't have an email verification or something. I guess they messed up when they made the account and used my email address that I owned.
So at some point when I got a game that required their system to activate it, when I put in my email address to register it said I already had an account. I figured, odd I guess I must have forgot about making an account for this service in the past.
So I tried to guess the pass I would have used and couldn't so I ended up resetting it.
When I reset the pass and logged in I noticed they had several games that I knew I never bought, several friends on their friend list that I didn't know, and the name on the account wasn't the same as mine. I didn't know how to fix it so I ended up logging out and remaking another account with a different email address and never logged into that account again. I sometimes wonder if the guy was able to eventually fix it as I never logged in again. I kinda doubt it since he didn't have access to the correct email address. Not my fault he typed in my email address though when he made the account to begin with.
I guess I could have just taken the account for myself but:
1. That didn't feel right, plus it would be weird if the friends messaged me. Didn't want to get accused of hacking/stealing his account.
2. I had a key I was going to activate and if he did get his account back I didn't want to lose my key if it was associated to his account.
3. I hoped the guy would be able to get his account back as that would suck losing an account because you messed up typing in an email address.Last edited by J411; 08-01-2020 at 11:41 PM.

Have to wait 2-3 days apparently. I could just use another email, but I want to kick that ****er off my email.
I read that happened to someone else too. It's stupid they don't require email verification.
If they told me to bug off I was just gonna take over and delete the account. But I'm a nice guy, you know.๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ถ, ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐

Maybe someone signed up with your e-mail by mistake.
Could be that your e-mail is something like Danny1234@mail.ru and the other guy has Danny1233 and he mis-typed it.--There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
