Went to the ER recently during a full blown panic attack (Anxiety Brahs GTFIH)

Just lying down my heart rate was in the 150's and I was breathing very rapidly and shallow. I could feel my extremities tingling and I felt like I was dying. I've always had a bit of anxiety but it never got worse than a bit of sweaty palms.

Health wise checked out fine. Trying to eliminate sources of anxiety now, which is not an easy thing to do.

Any of you brahs aweir and can relate?

Last year I had a string of panic attacks. Awful feeling nearly shat myself at work because of it (ded srs my body in its panic made me have liquid ****s and I was barely able to hold it)

Just cut out stress and work on activity relaxing. I like to imagine watching myself. Like picture yourself watching yourself from above or the side. Helps you get out of your head and back into the world. Also helps you visualize where your extremities are.

Yes, i went to the ER last year, HR shot up, BP went to 210/120.

Extremities were tingling and starting to go numb.

They couldnt find anything wrong with me and gave me a sedative.

Since going on anxiety meds i have had no issues since.

Although they get a bad rep, benzo's really helped me out

You can drink teas which will help like 20%. If you want to reduce you anxiety by a large ammount stay off anything that has caffeine

Never understood why people have the โ€œneedโ€ to drink coffe.... and yes any amount of caffeine is bad for anxiety, even a soda
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Not a fan of tea. I do need to cut back and then get off the caffeine. I can tell it has effects because shortly after I start becoming symptomatic.

Im not a fan of tea either brah, I just drink it for the health benefits, its only 8oz, force it down.

And just go cold turkey on the caffeine, I used to drink 2-3 rockstars a day the past 2 years and quitting has been the best choice of my life

I have had a couple and it's amazing how some of the symptoms can be confused with heart attack symptoms, and since I've had a heart attack before I go in and get checked out. Once diagnosed as a panic attack it usually goes away.

Did this once. My heart was racing and I had a severe headache. Thought I was going to die. They just have me anti anxiety meds through an IV that turned me into a zombie for the night. Then the $3,000 medical bill they sent in the mail was enough to make me stop giving a fuk about anxiety. Now I donโ€™t even focus on my symptoms and the attacks pass within minutes.

If it was an actual panic attack, it's no wonder you thought you were going to die. People that experience panic attacks engage in catastrophic misappraisal of the significance and impact of bodily sensations. The more you spiral into that rabbit whole of what ifs and oh fuks, the worst it will get. I can guarantee you that 0 people in the history of humanity have died from a panic attack.

Try and figure out what triggers them and then why. Awareness is the first step. Then you can intervene. If it gets worst, consider consulting a clinical psychologist that specializes in CBT for anxiety.

    Good luck OP.

Happened to me many times. The most recent was in the middle of Yellowstone when I was driving. Feet were soaked in sweat, heart pounding, could barely breathe and I thought I was seriously going to die before I could get to hospital. Tests turned out fine.

Iโ€™ve also noticed that mindfulness is key. I actually read a book about Buddhism and Iโ€™m not at all religious but it only goes over the mindfulness stuff. Was extremely helpful. Life changing even. Itโ€™s called Buddhism Plain and Simple.

I was prescribed meds flout didnโ€™t dare take them as they are serious ****. Try to fix the problem before taking drugs.

There can be endogenous causes, but the most common exogenous ones are alcohol(not while drinking but hours and days later), other mind-altering drugs and especially mj(not only while using but days and weeks later), caffeine, nicotine, MSG and MSG-like analogs.

Breathing exercises are one of the GOAT things, and easier than meditation or whatever IMO.

Look up an app called Prana Breath. It's on Android but probably in iOS too

I went to a party once where the hostess loved weed. However, I don't do drugs so I'm clean. There were two tables of "goodies" one for regular, and one for those that had weed in it. The hostess had to tend to something else so one of her friends took the dessert that someone brought and put it on the wrong table. They were weed brownies and they were sitting on the regular dessert table. A few hours later we finished dinner/apps and stuff and she was going to take out the desserts. However, in my drunken stupor, I had started eating from the regular dessert table and I had been eating the mistaken pot brownies.

What happened next was 30 minutes later, I started to feel like I was looking through a kaleidoscope, I started spinning and laughing. Then my ex was like are you okay and I couldn't talk, and then the hostess realized what happened and they laid me down. I had eaten 3 brownies and didn't know. I suddenly had a massive panic attack, and my chest started to pound hard, and I couldn't breathe. Honestly felt like I was having a heart attack. I didn't want to go to the hospital because I didn't want a drug test on my record or anything, nor did I want to explain it to people. Somehow I had gotten home from my ex and I woke up the next day and my chest still hurt bad. Still hurt for a few days and I went to the doctor to see if I had a heart attack. He ran the EKG and did tests and said it was just a panic attack. Then he said my chest was pounding so hard I actually bruised and inflamed the tissue in my chest which was why it was hurting. Said there was no permanent damage or anything, just a sore chest for a few days.

I haven't had a panic attack since or anything, but I was told that some people have those kinds of panic attacks all the time, which frankly would be a nightmare.
