Exclamation Ray Dalio - Investment GREAT: "3 Takeaways from Big FINANCIAL HISTORICAL CHANGES"

Ray Dalio has studied economic/financial situations in many different countries throughout history. There are 3 common concepts that can be seen when the financial/economic situation changes BIG. There are 3 that are playing out in front of our very eyes.

    1. Long Term Debt Cycle

    - We are nearing the end. Interest rates can go no lower. The amount of money that can be printed after this is extremely limited. Our debt-to-GDP ratio is at its peak.
    - Similar to 1930 to 1945

    2. Wealth/Values/Political Gap

    - Throughout every point in history, in many countries, every time these gaps increase, you also see civil unrest and conflict increase.

    This leads to changes in

    - Corporate tax rates
    - Personal tax rates
    - Capital gains tax rates

    3. Emergence of World Powers that Challenge the Existing World Power

Leads to 4 types of conflicts

    - Trade war
    - Technology war
    - Geopolitical war
    - Capital war

    These cause:

    - Change in supply lines in permanent ways
    - Change in capital movements
    - Exchange rate impacts
    - Stimulation impacts
    - Business disruption

The economic war often leads to a war (IE 1930s). Again, all these change the current way monetary policy operates, how wealth is distributed, and huge change in the current markets.

How can you optimize yourself moving forward may you ask?

    Diversify, BIG.

    - Multi-country portfolio
    - Multi asset class portfolio
    - Multi currency portfolio
    - Storehold of wealth (IE gold, silver)

Here you can see Ray's overall explanation:
