Hey y'all so I'm currently applying for my local law enforcement and I have a question that came up that I don't know if I'm being paranoid about or if I'm going to be disqualified? So I have super clean record never have even had a parking ticket, I'm also an Iraq combat vet and do tons of work with local/federal law enforcement right now but I was filling out the application and it asks if I have ever taken steroids. About a year and a half ago I bought a supplement called Extreme Stack over the counter from One Stop Nutrition thinking it was just an alternative weight gainer. Well my dumbass at the time took the supplement without researching it and from what I've been told its a steroid. So I was under the impression it was illegal to sell steroids over the counter so I don't want to put down that I've done steroids and be DQed if I actually haven't and they just turn out to be some false roid alternatives. Any advice would be helpful as I would really like this job and to be able to continue to serve. Thank you.

Talk through your concerns with the polygraph examiner. They should go over all the questions with you before you are hooked up to make sure you understand the questions and how to answer. They may even modify their line of questions such as "other than extreme stack, have you ever used any ....."
I have been polygraphed three times prior to employment for different jobs.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

List it with the explanation. You will automatically get DQ for failing the poly or lying about it, but that's a perfectly rational explanation for the use. Some departments that can afford to be super picky about applicants may or may not hire you over it, but most who are hurting for quality applicants wont dq you with a good explanation

You didn't buy an illegal steroid. You bought an over the counter supplement that you later read people shill as being a steroid. It wasn't. Maybe it was a pro hormone. Maybe it was a SARM. But its pretty unlikely anyone is going to sell an actual steroid over the counter disguised as something else. Especially from some corporate type supplement store.
Your going to have to explain that to your interviewer prior to the test. Because your conscious is most likely going to cause you to show deception if you don't. He'll phrase the question afterwards something like "Other then the supplement you already told me about. Have you taken any illegal narcotics?" Or something like that.
It won't DQ you.
