One of the most common scams going around always starts with "What's your final asking price?"

I'm selling a PS4 Pro on eBay. Street price on these is $300 but you can get a new one at Target or Walmart for $400.

Anyways, the scammer sends me this message:

Notice the ending. So I flat out tell him "$800", because no one is going to pay that price, even on Mars.

Now look what I get:

He asked for Paypal info so he can send me the money through Paypal without eBay knowing. That's why the scam works: eBay doesn't receive a fee, so it appeals to the seller, but you have to trust the buyer.

A scammer will ask for your email address so they can send you a fake payment notice telling you to ship that you've been paid. It looks exactly like the eBay ones. People don't pay attention to detail and fall for it all of the time.
