Is it worth buying a new car without a garage?

I'm in the market for a new car, and most likely getting a Maza Miata mx-5.

The problem is I don't have access to a garage.

Is that a deal breaker? Would you think of street parking a new car ?

Why would that matter assuming you plan on keeping it for 10 years... Other than the fact its gonna age a lot faster.

I don't think its a deal breaker because really the RX5 isn't all that expensive.

I recommend the following, you can buy a high quality car cover and use it for when it rains, snows, or sits in heavy sunlight. All of those things are really what kills the paint. Also improper washing or over washing dulls the paint. Just make sure the car cover 100% does not cause light scratching when applying and removing.

It will degrade just as fast. A garage will protect the paint and some rust, if you're buying a new car it doesn't seem like you're the type of person to keep it for 20 years.

I love having a workshop/garage since it lets me work on my toys out of the wind and rain, but I'd rather not be replacing seals if I just bought a brand new car.

    This.

But it depends on the car. Like if i got a brand new accord, or something of that class, i wouldn't care if i had no garage or no driveway. Because it's only an accord.

Something like a corvette, GTR, or the higher priced cars, at LEAST a driveway.

there's a difference between street parking and just not having a garage (but using driveway)

in a driveway you can at least coat the vehicle in materials that protect the paint through seasons. i use a ceramic that supposedly lasts a year although i usually re-apply before the year is up.

street parking honestly i would not do this. i would buy another used car and get something new and mint down the line when i have a driveway or garage. i get too upset over bumps and scratches and would end up wanting to kill my neighbors.

you're more likely to mark the car up putting your cover on 3-4x a week than anything else ITT. i get using a cover if the vehicle is sitting for weeks but if you're putting this thing on every time it's going to rain or be sunny you're beating the paint up too.

keep in mind if you throw a cover over a dirty vehicle the cover pushes up against the dirt on the paint. and it's supposedly being parked on the street.

I literally park in the garage wherever I go.

The only time my car is exposed to the elements is when I drive it (daily).

My girl thinks I’m crazy because I have her move her car when I come over to park mine in the garage lol.

Trying to keep it in good condition because I plan on driving it until it comes apart.

i've only used IGL. i can't really compare to other brands, but i'm happy with it. claims a full year and i would say at least 8-10 months into it i still see water beading up and it looks like a million bucks after a quick wash.

definitely want to put your heart and soul into it before applying. by that i mean, a full wash and claybar, plus buffing or any paint correcting. we even used alcohol wipes on a couple spots. basically getting the paint down to bare bones before applying, otherwise you're putting the coating over dirt and sealing it.
