Finished the prologue and did some bit of exploring as I'm done for the night. Here are some early impressions
- Graphics are insane, the artstyle and environments are really good. Game looks incredible on my new Oled, but it's not perfect, some parts of the game look a bit dated, but the presentation as a whole is top notch. Easily one of the best looking games of the gen.
- I'm playing on hard, and the combat isnt so hard right now, I've died a few times, but overall it's a lil bit challenging, but also a bit easy and kinda fun, but it doesn't have that "oomph" like Sekiro. The parry sound in Sekiro is so satisfying, but in this game it's quite muted.
- Camera is horrible, probably my biggest issue with the game right now, it's so hard to get the camera right and i'm fighting not only the enemies, but the camera as well
- Noticing some very annoying stutters on the PS4 Pro during cutscenes, in game it seems quite smooth and holds up, but its very noticeable in some cutscenes.
- I'm not a fan of the jumping/platforming ... Jin feels extremely floaty, like ps3 era characters floaty which makes these sections a bit annoying to get through.
- I really like the Wind mechanic, the fact that there's no hud and you can explore the world/get where you need to without a hud, but an ingame mechanic is excellent as I'm appreciating the beauty of the game rather than staring at some minimap.
- Got a bit of dialogue choices, but I dont know how deep the RPG mechanics go, is this an RPG game or is this an action adventure game like Tomb Raider? In the Infamous games your dialogue choices matter, but not sure about this game and it's not explicitly mentioned.
-Story is super meh so far, not interested in the characters or the villains, or just the overall plot so far. Everything and everyone is very one note and bland atm. But I'm a huge fan of Samurai's and all that, so the lore and world building is keeping me interested.
So far I'm enjoying it and really keen to get back to it so I can explore the world more. Sony once again with what looks like another excellent game.

The ps5 has ps4 backwards compatibility. so 1 of 3 options
- it will run as is on the ps5 but won't turn it into a volcano like my og ps4
- it will get a graphical boost patch to run with even better graphics/framerate on the ps5
- there will be a remastered edition eventually i'll get insteadLast edited by bartosh; 07-16-2020 at 02:23 PM.

Alright boys just fired it up, I am already semi-erect.
oh and if any of you are NOT playing it with Japanese dialogue(English subs) then you're a pleb and you should refund the game.
One tip to make the camera a bit better, go into the settings and switch camera movement to 'fast'. While the camera is still a little annoying, I'm already used to moving it around quickly enough that I don't have any real issues.Last edited by kr1kit; 07-16-2020 at 09:48 PM.

Meh ... Is it any good? the english voices sound a bit stiff but I always almost choose english language rather than dubs unless they're like tv shows, or movies from a foreign country because english dubs usually end up being horrible. This is a western game made for English speaking audiences primarily so the japanese voice acting maybe an afterthought.
Hate the fact that you cant skip dialogue ... I dont need to hear every single encounter in a forced cutscene with some random npc who's just talking a whole bunch of chit. I mean they aren't long but its just annoying, I hope they patch in a skip dialogue because I've got all the info from the subtitles.
The combat's gotten a lot better now that there's a variety of enemies and I've unlocked a new stance as well. Switched it down from hard to medium. So I can just enjoy it and not have the camera give me cheap deaths as well.Sig line can't be a novel

I absolutely love the sound of Japanese, so in any title that has the option(like yakuza or judgement) I turn on Japanese audio and English subtitles. It feels really weird playing a Japanese game with Japanese characters(especially a historical title like Ghost)and hearing some white dude talking. So far the Japanese voice acting is great.
I really don't understand why they did not implement a lock-on mechanic, like every other game in this genre has...

I will play this game and will enjoy it in its most purest form. Rep the good man who pointed it out for pointing it out.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

It just feels far more immersive, it'd be weird playing this game and hearing John Smith from California doing voice acting for a 13th century samurai.
I've also been learning a bit of Japanese on my own during covid, as I had been planning a trip to Japan but obviously that got derailed by 2020, so it's helping me with my lessons.

Yeah it’s like watching a kung fu movie with the English voice actors while the Asian actors mouths move. Wouldn’t feel as natural.
I’m liking tlou2 a lot but feeling a bit burnt out on focusing on only one game.
I might go ahead and purchase ghost of Tsushima and just do both.BLM (Brock Lesnar Matters)

Just played about 2 hours so far. I'm going to preface the fact that I just finished TLOU2 a couple of weeks ago and have been spoiled by that game as far as visuals/animation goes. With that said, the visuals are great but not as detailed as TLOU2. The animations are somewhat stiff and not as fluid, facial animations as well are good but not great either. Where this game really shines for me is in the artistic landscapes, the wind animation is a bit over the top with the trees and tall grass swaying but I think it looks great. I can't stop checking out the scenery in photo mode.
Story and voice acting is great so far. I am tempted to check out the Japanese language but I read that the mouths don't sync with their voices and it's pretty noticeable.
The camera is frustrating! It took a little bit of getting used to, but the camera is a bit too close to the character and feels a little cramp sometimes. Gameplay reminds me of an easier version of Sekiro with the dodging and timing. Fortunately this game is a bit more forgiving when it comes to timing and dodging. Overall, I'm enjoying it so far.*** Extreme OCD crew *** (brb bench press not parallel to the ceiling beams)

I played the hell out of Sekiro and I can spot the similarities when I see them.
Sekiro had a grappling hook, apparently this game also has a grappling hook as well with somewhat the similar mechanics.
The red flash animation right before an enemy uses a thrusting attack is very similar to the same mechanic in Sekiro.*** Extreme OCD crew *** (brb bench press not parallel to the ceiling beams)
