Considering the company you keep, OP, I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Guess what happens with the immune system when a child enters the world via C-section vs natural childbirth?
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30487172/
"Epidemiological studies have shown that children born by cesarean section (CS) are at higher risk of developing chronic inflammatory diseases, and it has been suggested that a skewed gut microbial colonization process early in life and altered priming of the immune system are causative."

"Giant study links C-sections with chronic disorders
People born by C-section, more often suffer from chronic disorders such as asthma, rheumatism, allergies, bowel disorders, and leukaemia than people born naturally."Last edited by LizzieTish; 07-13-2020 at 08:43 AM.

I wear my mask knowing it won't protect me, unlike the idiots who keep preaching Mask it or Casket. Only wearing it to prevent backlash from paniccels and going violent over nothing.
But on topic, I sometimes forget to wash my hands after touching something that probably isn't sanitized but I don't freak out about it. My way of the 80/20 rule.Oakland Raiders--Toronto Raptors--Toronto Blue Jays--San Jose Sharks

They compromise our immune systems much in the same way that sometimes a seatbelt restricts someone and they end up in a burning car or drowning in one that sinks in a pond.
Meanwhile, they're overall very effective at saving lives or making people safer 999 out of 1,000 times, probably quite a lot more, although they certainly do not make you invulnerable and incapable of being hurt in a car wreck.
So, wear a mask and put on your seatbelt. Your likely dirty mask won't offer any protection to you but if EVERYONE were to do it, those people who are capable of spreading it and put on a mask are less likely to do it.All truth passes through three stages. Immediate effects are most likely pros that will outweigh the cons but for prolonged usage, it seems like it would become a detriment to your health.

Are we still complaining about the damn face covers? wearing a cover over your face for 20 minutes while you go in and out of a grocery store isn't going to lower your immune system and make you vulnerable to disease unless you've been wearing something over your face your entire life. Also, there are professions where you have to wear masks (not face coverings) for the majority of the 8-12 hour shift while you're at work. I've worked in healthcare (Sterile processing/sterile compounding/drug manufacturing) in various capacities for my entire working life and i've had to wear N95 masks for 8 to 12 hours per day only taking them off for breaks, lunch and to replace them per SOP. I don't have respiratory issues from breathing in "excessive CO2" I don't get sick more because my immune system is somehow weak from not being exposed to natural flowing air particles. People need to stop parroting random infographics they read on ********;
I'm in UTC so I don't see the smoke. Is it really eveloping the sky? I haven't been down there to check.

i honestly doubt wearing a mask for an hour to do your shopping is going to compromise your immune system.
if anything just spend some time outside throughout the day without a mask
obviously there are exceptions such as people who have trouble breathing properly
with that said it's lookin like some dystopian reality outside lol. Just waiting for the day where we can no longer enter businesses without the minimum of a Hazmat suit and an immunization certificate for COVID-19. Inb4 it's a business' right not to serve you if you don't have these.

The thing is, there are only a handful of respiratory issues that would harm a person if they wore a mask. Suddenly EVERYONE has a breathing issue and are therefore exempt from wearing a mask.
Cystic Fibrosis
having a lung removed due to lung cancer
COPD
are the three most common and if you have one of these conditions you wouldn't even be able to walk around the grocery store to shop with out carting along an O2 tank. I highly doubt the 38 year old soccer-mom who rides bikes on the weekend is suddenly going to die from wearing a mask for 20 minutes

Imagine starting a thread thinking that A) wearing a mask will cause health problems and B) thinking that standard hygiene procedures will reduce your immune system.
I mean a fukin guy ITT said that washing your hands is bad for your immune system. What kind of dirty fuk is he?***Mariah Carey is my 10/10 Crew***

Seatbelts? Probably. I can hypothesize a weird set of circumstances where they are harmful but most of the time in car crashes, you'll want to be wearing one.
Masks? Who the **** knows. Probably marginal, although if everyone wore them and did a responsible job I bet it would really slow the spread down. I doubt they offer any protection to you but probably do help keep sick from spreading it.All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
