Airbnb
Reuters reporting that Airbnb has been approached about going public through a SPAC. CEO of Airbnb has confirmed stating "“We’ve been approached by some people that have presented us some opportunities. We’re looking at everything. So I probably shouldn’t speculate too much on it.”

IMO, the only SPAC large enough would be PSTH. It was also rumored to be one of PSTH's targets.
I like Airbnb. Feel like it has the potential to be a meme stock. However I am cautious about them in the long term. Seems like more and more cities are putting restrictions on short term rentals.

Do you understand how valuations work on these mergers well enough to explain it to me? I was reading they planned on having a 1.8 billion valuation post merger, but how do they figure they'll reach that? Was that based on the price of shares at the time of announcement? Let's say share price drops to half of what it was at the announcement- does that mean that when merger is complete the market cap would also be half of their anticipated valuation?

Somewhat, this is what makes GRAF somewhat risky as well as a lot of other spacs. They are all mostly trading on hype and not so much on valuations. Both SHLL and GRAF are being valued for forecasted revenues in later years. I think for both its around 2024 revenues. The 1.8 billion valuation is assuming the share price is $10 I believe. The real question is can GRAF actually hit the revenues they claim to be able to for 2024. They do seem to be getting a lot of contracts, but we don't know much money they are bringing in. Having said that, GRAF does seem like one of the strongest spacs out there as they are actually dominant in their field and have an existing product and connections. Lidar does seem like it will have a large role going forward with many different applications. I personally think the warrants are a better play. At least they give you 5 years of growth plus trading below the share price.
Having said that I exited GRAF to move on to other plays when we had a bump the other day.

Thanks that's good to know. So like right now I presume if the merge was executed tomorrow the market capitalization would be less than 1.8 billion since the number of shares in the company doesn't change so Velodyne would have a market capitalization of a little under 300 million right? Seems like a terrific deal.

I would have to re read the proposed merger agreement but I believe that upon merger there are going to be additional shares released to Velodyne stakeholders (Nikon, Ford, Baidu are the 3 major ones). From what I've read, post merger if Velodyne trades at a similar (X)revenue as the industry (tech) average the share price would be approx 29 dollars/share. I can find the video that breaks it down better when I get home if youd like
