    AC or giant fan..

As most of you know, due to this covid BS I am building a home gym. During our construction conversation the topic of getting central AC in the basement VS installing a giant fan came up.

I don't want any AC in my gym, it annoys me when they turned them on at the gyms!

How about you guys, you like to work out in an AC gym or you prefer fans?

Guess it depends how warm your basement is, mine is very cool and a fan would be great. In a commercial gym, I am an AC fan. I hate the heat always have..
    Good luck with the build

If you are building it in your basement you won't need AC, it will stay reasonably cool even without your house AC on, fan will be good enough. My garage gym though I have fans and right now its just blowing hot wet air and it sucks. Luckily my commercial gym is open so I have been going there and training in AC with fans...Make sure you have good lighting and mirrors. You will be surprised how much both matter if you go without for awhile. Lighting made a huge difference in my garage gym. A bunch of LED shop lights vs CFL bulbs in the existing fixtures totally changed the feel. I have them slightly angled too so its like indirect lighting but super bright with no glare when they are all on.

I prefer AC when working out. I feel energized when it is cold...Higher temperatures completely sap my energy.

I have a finished basement and it is relatively cool but can get muggy at times so as of right now there is an AC down there.

Yup definitely getting a lot of full length mirrors and lighting.

I love working out in the heat, I can't workout in the cold at all.

I just run a standing dehumidifier in my basement now and then to take the dampness out. It does raise the temp a little, but having an overall slightly higher temp with low humidity and a fan going is plenty tolerable.

Answer my question, and you will answer yours.

Are you going to the gym to be comfortable or to work?

107 here today. A fan would be nothing more than a convection oven.
I'm out, standing in my field.
