This is not new, about 2 years ago I saw a similar criticism of UK national parks. The proportion of visitors from black and minority ethnic groups was lower than the national average.

But rather than ask why that is, and actively encourage more groups to enjoy the parks who weren't using them, there was a call to reduce funding and protection and a suggestion it was racism to support national parks.

It's probably a more complex issue in the US than UK as you've also got mistreatment of First Nations peoples mixed up in the land use questions. But it's a bit simpler in UK example.

Thankfully that died away in UK, but I'm not surprised if it comes back again. It's a fair point that the participation levels some sports, example rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, are biased towards people of white European descent. But what do we do about that issue, ban those sports/activities?

I heard some commentary that the parks are too far from the urban areas so it's harder for blacks to get there, umm say what? It's no different than hockey. downhill skiing, etc, as you pointed out some cultures just aren't into it.

As far as the parks being racist well i'll tell you they sure as fuk aren't racist against Asians, I have run into busload after busload in damn near every National park I have been to. The only exception for some reason was the Everglades and I think thats mainly because as far as parks go it absolutely sucks.

I have a few Black friends that enjoy the outdoors fishing and hunting. Another one though, he's a character, I tried for years to get him in the bush. He kept telling me, nope, that's where black folks go to die son, not going. All in fun of course. I finally talked him into coming into my camp one fall. On his second day he was on the sh!tter and heard a noise, opened the door and seen a bear, we had a couple of moose hanging and I guess that's what dragged him in, I was down getting water, that took about an hour or so, when I got back the bear was no where in sight and when I shut the ATV off, I heard him yell from the sh!tter, careful there's a big bear out there. Took me about 10 minutes to convince him there was no bear and come out. First, I though he was joking or heard a squirrel or something. Bears although big, leave very little track depending on the terrain and it took me a bit but I finally cut some sign, confirming he was right. He had me drive him out to the main road right away and his wife picked him up. lol That bear kept coming back and I had to eventually dispatch it, it was getting into everything destroyed 2 gas cans. For some reason they just love gas cans. I spent over 10 years in that particular camp average of 40 - 50 days consecutive every fall and seen only a handful of bears. I gave him a bunch of bear sausage and he tells everyone how he helped me get the bear and I tell everyone how he was so scared he hid in the sh!tter coming out at least 40 lbs lighter in less than an hour.

No, you just don't see the metaphor. The black ball is a slave to the one wielding it, and it is expected to "stay in its lane" or it will just end up in the gutter. From that point, it has no choice but to strike back at the white innocents.

Yup, the fact that black people don't go to Yellowstone Park is somehow the fault of wicked racist white people. . Gotta admit, the story is pretty creative though...It isn't always easy inventing new forms of phony racism and oppression.
