Now I have something to fend away the thought that I'll need straps when I get there, myself. Always motivating and impressive seeing a heavy deadlift!
Not a fan of straps personally and I never use them. I'll have to try this hook grip sometimes as I always use reverse.Bench: 315
Squat: 335
Deadlift: 475

Presses were strong. No real goal today, I just wanted to see where my press was at after not doing them for a while. 195 was a tough single but it wasn't a max effort type of single. I am guessing my press strength has not suffered from lack of practice.
I have decided that after the next leg day I will be deloading for a "week". I am thinking Monday will be my leg day, and after that the rest of the week will be a light weight version of what I have been doing. The plan is to get six days of recovery in.You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Oh man you are busy. Postponing an actual program is smart. I bet all the extra stuff your up to didn’t help the squats either. Recovery could be down especially if you are feeling a cold.
Nice press work. Hitting 195 is a workout in itself. Enjoy the recovery weekMy “training log”

Thanks Raigs. Yeah the weather here has decided to do the up-down, rain for three days, stay dry for a day thing so my sinus issues have flared up bad the last couple of weeks. I should probably start one of those daily allergy meds like zyrtec or something. Usually I dont have to bother with it until the middle of April but it looks like 2021 is gonna be a little different

Just felt like doing bodyweight pulls today. So, I did as many as I could think of
Chin-ups were solid. Pull-ups were okay. The trap bar pullups were pretty solid. I threw in curls mostly because I remembered I need to get the biceps up to par with the triceps lol.You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Decided to just toss in a quick leg workout today since I am finally going back to day shift tomorrow and I am not sure if I am going to feel like working out after I make the swap from staying up all night to trying to stay up all day again
Front squats were great. There was no goal other than go 300+. I actually unracked 335 after the 305 but didn't even walk it out. Just didnt feel right.
Goodmornings were okay. Motivation for these was not high lol.
Trap bar deads were put in because I wanted to use the trap bar for something it was designed forI forgot how quad focused these are.
Trap bar shrugs were just to throw another lift in at the end and I wanted to get some extra trap work inYou would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Changing work hours is bad enough, but changing sleeping hours is a whole different beast. Hopefully you adjust relatively quickly...
I really enjoy how seemingly spontaneous your workouts are. I'd probably just deadlift and bench every day if I did this, lmao. But you do a great job of still maintaining a good balance. The Flywheel Effect - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172103043

Thanks fellas! It has been a hectic week around here. Switching from nights to days was easy, but now that I am home in the afternoon and working normal hours, the wife has me doing more work to get this house ready. I took this whole week off from lifting to try and get all of the major stuff out of the way. It was successful
Now the stuff left around the house will not interfere with my workout schedule.
Still going to stick with the P/P/L but still thinking I am not long for this kind of split. I am starting to get the number chasing itch again lol, although I cant deny that this hypertrophy style of work has been hella fun.
@CW, I try not to go too random but yeah sometimes I just veer off from what I am "supposed" to do and do what I want in the context of the day. lol I will not benchpress if it is supposed to be leg day, but I will ditch squats in a heartbeat for front squats or trap bar deads or something that keeps with the theme of the day.
@Savior, honestly no clue. I rarely go into the heavy rep range with goodmornings and I rarely go into the lighter rep range with deadlifts. But if I had to guess I think I could pull 565 for a max and I could probably GM 335.Last edited by 400Lb Gorilla; 02-27-2021 at 01:03 PM.

Not liking the push pull legs? Every time I give it a go I get burnt out lol
Only time it works for me is 3 days per week. You’re making me want to chase numbers as well. Just hit 225x5 on the incline the other day. Kinda curious and sort of want to drop below 5 reps for once but probably will not haha

It is not that I dislike the PPL, just need to take more rest days I think. That and find a good balance between chasing numbers while continuing to try and build muscle.

Benchpress was strong but needs some work.
Incline DB presses were solid. I got some 2.5s for the DBs so I can keep the increases smaller.
CGBP was good. Skulls were good.

Still progressing with the heavy doubles on deadlifts. Added ten pounds this week simply because the 455 double gave me a little extra confidence lol. It felt a little lighter than I expected. 515, on the other hand, felt exactly like 515 should feelStill, probably could have added another ten pounds and still been good to go. Might find out next week if that is true.
Chinups sucked but I expected them to be sub-par today. Rows were intentionally lighter today because I have never done trap bar rows before. These are great. Not quite as awesome as DB rows, but still the lats and rear delts got hit hard from just the 135.
Shrugs and curls were thrown in to get that pump. All the muscles behind me are pretty fried. You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Got What I Aimed For
I wanted a new 2 rep or 3 rep PR for front squat. I was really hoping for 300x3 but I am definitely not disappointed in the double I got. For front squats, in case any one is wondering my current PRs are 325x1, 300x2, and 285x3. Might have to find out what my 5RM is for these at some point.
The goodmornings were solid. Hamstrings seemed to be doing the work today but that might mostly be due to them being a little sore from yesterday so I felt it in them more. You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Congrats on the front squat PR
I get what you mean about PPL. I'm far less advanced than you and am doing less volume but it's starting to wear on me. Perhaps I'm just lazy lol but am starting to yearn for something more simple and strength based (but still with good intensity).Somehow still managing to avoid getting 'too big'

Gracias! I say stick with what keeps you having fun. If you like moving big chit around, find something powerlifting or strongman related to work. If you are more interested in building mass and looking hyoooge, then bodybuilding is the way to go. If power is your primary motive, learn the oly lifts.
If overuse injuries and looking like you dont lift is your thing, try crossfit
Yes sir yesterday was a rest day. Today was push day. If the website lets me post it I will post it up next lolYou would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

In My Defense
Only had about 30-45 minutes to get in and get this done. Someone was coming by to look at our house. I almost considered waiting to hit this after they were done, but I am glad I didn't. They stuck around with our realtor here for over an hourHopefully they are buying this house lol. It isnt that big of a house so I am not sure why it took over an hour to look at it all lol.
Press was solid. I was hoping for 195x3 just so I could say I had a definite 3RM but it wasnt happening today. No sweat, press is not that big of a focus for me right now.
Trap bar presses were an idea I stole from CW(i think it was him). Not really a fan of these to be honest. They are definitely front delt intensive but the unracking and racking are a giant pain in the ass. Loading and unloading the bar is an even bigger pain in the ass. Will not be doing these again lol.
The snatch grip BTN presses were thrown in cause I am trying to work some more flexibility into the shoulders. That and I like these.
Laterals were done one side at a time with no rest between sets. The pump was amaaaaazzzzing! You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Woooooooo!
Left shoulder would not support any upper back work today, apparently. I think I slept on it wrong or I just wore it the hell out yesterday, but either way I had to switch gears a little.
The goal today for deadlift was to try and get a feel for how to get more hams/glutes into the big pull and not rely on my lower back to do all the work. My ass is now sore, my hamstrings feel like someone took a cheese grater to them, and my quads are still twitching
Despite the weird shoulder thing I am happy with the way this workout turned out. The 495 and 515 pulls were probably still a little too much lower back and not enough legs, but I am okay with that for now.You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Also, I doubt this will surprise anyone but tomorrow will be the last day I am doing this push/pull/legs style split. It was great when I was sticking to higher reps and focusing on building mass, but I am getting that itch to chase big weight again and I need to readjust to satisfy that itch.
While this is not a definite plan yet, I am thinking my new split is going to looks something like this:
Day 1- Deadlift Day
Deadlift
Traps
Biceps
Core
Day 2- Press Day
Press
Incline press
Shoulder isolation
Day 3- Squat Day
Squats
Front squats
Hammy and quad work
Calves
Day 4- Benchpress Day
Benchpress
Chest
Triceps
Might throw in a 5th day in here and there depending on what I am feeling. I would basically run this the same way I do SST or 5/3/1.You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

Yeah not surprised you decided to change it up. But if your not enjoying the lifting it’s not worth it.
Not a bad session for the shoulder being whacky. Deficit deads are always impressive.
Yeah the trap bar presses don’t sound super fun. But to each his own right. My “training log”
