Smile Getting back to work AGAIN!

    Hi People,

In the year 2016 I lost about 130+lbs on my own in about 10 months by eating healthy (in a deficit) and working out (walking, running and weight lifting religiously). It took me about a couple years to fully re-gain all the weight I had lost back by falling into old habits and making poor decisions.

Anyway, I have been walking a whole lot since February-ish and eating healthy again and so far managed to lose 70lbs. I have not yet started to lift weights or do any jogging or running yet. I'm a bit fearful that if I start lifting I will lose a lot of muscle. Any supplements that I should be taking to help with this especially since I am eating in a deficit? I'm averaging a 3-4 lb loss per week.

In the past the only thing I had done before workouts is just take a pre-workout and then after the workout just drink a protein drink and eat dinner. I am reading a lot about BCAA's which is supposed to help with preventing loss of muscle and such, any thoughts? When should I take these?

If it matters, my current stats are as follows: Ht: 6-1/2 ft Wt: 238 lbs

    Thanks

Don’t bother your arse with BCAAs, just calculate your required protein for the day (visit the nutrition section) and if your diet is lacking and you can’t increase protein intake, maybe consider looking at a protein powder

Not lifting while losing weight is what will cause muscle loss, not lifting while losing weights. Opposite in fact; weight lifting while in a deficit will maintain (and possibly help to gain) muscle mass.

You should have been lifting this entire time, and no better time to start than now.

BCAAs would be a waste of money, lift and eat right (enough protein/fat), you will be just fine if you do that.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.
