What my ex said to me after working my ass off.

"I have never seen you so pale"
"Don't loose anymore weight you look too skinny"
    "It makes you look older"

This after 52 workouts during lockdown

    Air Squats
    Press up
    Ring Rows
    Tons of long walks

Personally i thought I looked stacked and lean. But now I feel awful.

Noting I want to gain size - shall I ignore her and carry on before gyms open - or change up compounds?

    Current programme

    3 x 10 air deep squats
    3 x 10 single leg static lunge
    2 x 10 Sumo squats

    3 x 10 Press ups
    1 x 10 Close grip press ups

    4 x 8 Leaning Ring Rows

1 x 10 Dead lift - with EZ bar with two ten 10kg on. Thats all I have.

Thought this was a misc. post in the programs sections.

If she's your ex, why does it matter now? Do your program if you like the results.

Cause you want people to not be so rude. 52 hours of beasting and 30 hours of cardio. Felt depressed and sick like I looked all skinny and weak.

Some people have a crabs in the bucket mentality and will rip on you for improving yourself. It's hard but you need to cut these people out of your life or at least understand why they say what they say and ignore accordingly.

In this particular case, you should wake the fuk up to yourself, because this is your ex. Who cares what an ex says? Why are you even in contact with her?

Anyway you do you mang. If you feel good about your work and the results, take pride in it. Don't make your emotional state reliant upon other peoples' opinions. That just builds a prison for yourself.

“Many religions now come before us with ingratiating smirks and outspread hands, like an unctuous merchant in a bazaar. They offer consolation and solidarity and uplift, competing as they do in a marketplace. But we have a right to remember how barbarically they behaved when they were strong and were making an offer that people could not refuse.”

Aside of the ring row that workout is really really easy. Is it okay for your level of fitness or do you just go through the motions?

If you do not have a way to increase weight, you have to increase volume or switch excersizes.
If you can do 30 press up than do 3x30 or switch to a harder excersize. You need to progress.

You could also make some circuit training, where you take your 4 excersizes, some easy rep range and do them one after another as often as you can in a set time.

TLDR: If it is hard keep doing what you are doing, othewise ad reps or switch exersizes.

OP, don't put stock into what an ex says. Also, even if it's not an ex, if you're working hard and seeing results that you like, don't worry about what someone else says.

Do agree with this too. If you're doing bodyweight you really should be doing much higher reps. When I had to do bodyweight squats and lunges due to shoulder surgery I was doing 100's of squats and 60-80 lunges a workout.

Psych 101: People tend to attack in others what they feel they lack in themselves. (Projection)

Your ex clearly feels insecure about her own fitness level, and likely her age and weight as well based on her comments to you.
You're doing an exceptional thing losing weight and working out to be healthier and look better.
People who aren't on the same wavelength will criticize you, because you succeeding is a shining beacon illuminating their own inadequacy. If they can knock you down back to their level they will feel better.

The comments have nothing to do with you and everything to do with the way your ex feels about herself.

Very nice comments @dharma and @lights

How interesting - no respect thats so true... yes - nailed it.

Yes I think she is a bit mental she is one of those who does Mushrooms and MDMA and grows live seaweed and things Covid is all fake and that I should stop taking Anti Depressants and all COPD medications should be replaced with diet and being happy. I think she might have some of that back to front.

Well I can tell you one thing I can remember to do - and thats "delete the people who steal your joy" - and stop comparing myself i.e. comparison is the theif of joy.

I thought I was looking pretty good. But you know when we age, thin skin etc etc - plus no hair cuts and all that no clothes shopping to fit my new frame blah blah.

Anyway I am over it now and thanks for your help - but it will take a while for me to completely forget what a C *** she is -
