    Or ya know.

    You could work back steadily with sensible volume and slowly increase relative intensity and volume to normal levels.

    There are very few people I've known who can complete a set of 20 squats with any meaningful weight and maintain decent form

    I'm a believer, but have only done it with 3 X 20 dead lifts. Haven't done it with squats. But worth a try someday.
