Restarted my playthrough on Survival and Game + mode. Tough as Sh!t so far

twice Abby has held her life in her hand and twice let her live.

It was good to see her try to be a parent with Dina, but haunted by Images Joel’s death she has to go finish it.

It is a good story. Dunno how far I have to go yet

Finished the game on normal mode.
Overall, it's a 8/10. It's not as good as the first one but it's still an excellent game.
Wish they had done more with the mechanics of the game, it's a bit of an upgrade but I expected more.

Visually stunning though, alot of fun. Ellie is a bad ass.

Not too happy about the 2nd other half of the game but it grows on you.

Abby was disgusting to look at. 6'2 celltech physique with a female head and voice. Lol'd at the panning across the gym at the WLF base, as if to suggest Abby got that jacked naturally. Girrrrl power!

Other than the sjw/lesbo chit, it was a fun game, 8/10. The gameplay and graphics were noticeably better than the original. Story was a step back.

This style of game is so focused on third-person storytelling and long af cut scenes that turn the gaming experience almost into watching a movie. Not sure how much I’m a fan and it’ll be interesting to see this style of game contrasted with Cyberpunk 2077 that will be first person right down to the cutscenes

Dina just casually being like "I'm pregnant" after this 3 month trek while being chased by hordes and WLF forces, jumping and climbing through spore infested ruins and getting smacked around be infected

Definitely made me roll my eyes with a disheartened "really??". Sometimes these writers try too hard for my liking and it comes off super campy and corny.

Otherwise the games still a lot of fun. I do wish that the pacing was bumped up a little. Even at the mark I'm at it seems like they could have cut out maybe an hour or two just via pacing and game mechanics. So many little dead ends that have no point or purpose and are explicitly there to build in superficial game time gets a little old.

I give it an 8.5/10. Plat it after 1 1/2 playthrough.

The first was definitely better. The whole novelty wears off when you play the second one.

The gameplay is topnotch, I really enjoyed it. The SJW stuff feels forced but one that does not bother me cuz mainly, they are side-stories. The main story about revenge made me really want to see what happens in the final confrontation. People were saying during the leaks that Abby was a villain and that she is justifying her actions. I do not think so at all. Most people faced with that situation would have done the same, especially with the world they live in.

My main complain is

Joel's death. I really enjoyed playing him in the first game. Then to just have him killed on the first 2 hours. I guess ND just want to go to a "shocking" direction. I remember when Uncharted 3 was out, many were already complaining it is the same old ****. Should Druckmann have gone to another path or waited til TLOU3 to kill Joel off? Maybe. But hey, it is his decision.

Also, blacks, asians are being killed left and right, so atleast there is that - no bias.

I also do not like Abby's character design. Too huge- cant fap to her. But I guess to be believable that she can beat up dudes and survive the world. Ellie is already too scrawny and been killing left and right.

I also enjoyed Abby's part of the game. Less dog killing too! That pregnant girl is ugly as **** though. Owen got bad taste in women.

I'm about 20 hours in and so far I give it a 7/10. I gave the original a 9/10 and after 20 hours the SJW stuff doesn't bother me. The only thing that really bothers me is that this should have been a 12-15 hour game total and at that length, nothing would have been lost from the meat of the game.

I like SP games that are long because they need to be though. The artificial fluff that gets added to a linear game like this makes it really feel like you're just constantly watching Return of the King and waiting for it to REALLY end this time. I thought the length of the first game was perfect (I think I beat it in 13 hours or so) and I would think they could have made the 2nd a comparable time. I love the gameplay, but I'm not crazy about the 10 extra hours they threw into this game.

The more I think about it, thematically within the game, killing off Joel makes far more sense, because just like you, I as a player wanted more of Joel and both of them together. The same way, in the game, Ellie had estranged her self from Joel and the night before their death, they did kind of reconcile back together, and it was a first step in becoming closer again, but that was taken away from her. I mean it was clear her guilt was killing her because she didnt spent time with him and his death basically coming out of nowhere was hard to take. So it basically puts you and Ellie into the same shoes together because neither of you got anytime to spend together with Joel

If you think it from that aspect it actually is some poignant storytelling, because it probably is the first time in a video game, you can actually feel the characters rage because you feel gutted as well.

Anyone been playing the new grounded/permadeath modes? I just got to the Abby half on grounded and it's been pretty fun so far. IMO it's harder overall than grounded in TLOU1 because the enemy AI has more variation in what paths they take, when they look around, etc so it's harder to plan routes that are safe. Fukers can also see and hear you from a mile away and they shoot quick and accurate.

I did, I'm about 15 hours in, still in the first zone but I'm enjoying myself much more than I did when I was playing TLoU2. TLoU was a slog to the finish where Ghost is entertaining the whole way through, the combat is incredibly fun to me, especially if you use the stance dance mechanic, and the game looks incredible.

So far everyone whos played it in this thread has enjoyed the game to varying degrees and seems like most people liked it more than they disliked it.
