People dying with Covid headed back down again in the US, during the time of year 15-20% more deaths happen from all causes. Yes it will rise again. This is respiratory illness season after all; people are going to get both flu and Covid. I don't know about you guys, but here in NC deaths with Covid were 830 in September, 850 in October and 880 in November. A nominal rise slower than the normal death rate increase by all causes for this time of year. North Carolina is almost the population of Belgium, for reference. But now that we're officially in December, the peak of death from all causes is coming, so we should see an increase in people dying with covid too. As to be expected.

In the early days of AIDS, it was virtually all related to butt sex and IV drug use. And it was 100% fatal, and nearly 100% preventable. Yet any credible push to make people change their behavior to stop the transmission was attacked like a MAGA hat in Portland.
Abortion is 100% fatal, and 100% preventable (i.e. if you don't have sex, you won't get pregnant), yet the idea of not having sex (i.e. changing behavior) to prevent abortion is considered lunacy.
COVID is 99%+ survivable and everyone is expected to change their behavior, close their business, etc. Almost as if decision are being made for politics, and not logic.440+6 crew; Buccaneers Crew

Would’ve been destroyed either way. Pretty clear evidence at this point that there isn’t a trade off between the economy and health.

Because all of that was going to be prevented by pretending this virus didn’t exist and continue as normal, right? Want to blame someone? Start with China, not the people taking reasonable measures to mitigate spread. The economy was going tank regardless of what we did.

Economy overall isn't tanking though. There was a short term downturn made to seem worse by the stock market falling drastically, but the economy has recovered for the most part and the stock market is at all time highs.
What happened was the business and market interactions that small businesses used to handle, and that then were forced out of business during the forced lockdowns, was taken over by large corporations. So while the overall economy went on almost as normal, you had over 125,000 small businesses go out of business (along with their mostly born American workers being unemployed) while the top 25 American corporations and billionaires saw their net worth increase up to 300% in the past 9 months while replacing those workers with cheaper immigrant labor.
So I want you to tell me how locking down the economy, and forcing so many small businesses out of business while at the same time enriching billionaires....has been worth it?
The same thing happened in 2008 with the housing crisis btw. Billionaires got even richer while many average Americans suffered. That was a manufactured crisis as well.
Do you see a pattern here? There is no reason for the economy to be locked down. For gods sake they just closed California restaurants again while stores like Walmart, McDonalds, Target etc remain open.
How can you not see that this is a planned disintegration of middle America so that the globalists billionaires can get more power and more money?
Blows my mind how people like you are so blind to this.
But you are like the guy in Animal house. Willing to do anything to go along with the Power elite.

Absolutely. They sell food, baby food, pet food, cleaning supplies, clothing, personal care items, auto supplies, tools, light bulbs and HVAC filters, and they have a pharmacy. Name another business that sells more essentials than Walmart.
Your local bar on the other hand, not essential. Hair salons and restaurants, not essential. Gyms, not essential.
There has been a trend away from unskilled jobs and inefficient business models for decades. All the COVID shutdowns has done is shorten the timeline over which those businesses would close. It's sad, even tragic for people who didn't have time to prepare, but honestly Dave, besides healthcare, utilities and transportation related industries, what businesses would you need to keep open for people to survive a pandemic besides Walmart?

President Trump during February 7 phone call with Bob Woodward:
It goes through air, Bob. That's always tougher than the touch.
You know, the touch, you don't have to touch things. Right?
But the air, you just breathe the air and that's how it's passed.
And so that's a very tricky one.
That's a very delicate one.
