Today I am finally going to the gym for the 1st time since March. I am practically jumping up and down like a child on Christmas morning. Sure I'll have to drive an hour to get 2 counties over to find an open gym but phuk it. I will probably over do it and cripple myself. I have lost so much muscle it's pathetic, god knows how far back I'll have to dial the weights.

Wow, hadn't been keeping up with the news, that was a shock to me, didn't realize gyms closing again. It also said in LA they're planning for the kids Not going back to School in the fall. Things must be bad

Not in all counties.
"Newsom said he would also close indoor operations for fitness centers, worship services, personal care services, malls, offices, hair salons and barbershops for 30 counties on California’s monitoring list". Not saying the county where the gym is won't eventually be put back into the chit list, but I'll go while it lasts.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

Indoor Gyms reopening in England today (not sure about other UK regions). Not been yet but I know that they don't want me staying more than an hour, only allowed once a day, no changing rooms and reduced facilities (but no membership reduction)
I plan to go before work a few times next week to my normal gym, and a few times before work to a different gym and start using whichever one is better for getting access to racks etc.
Probably I'll do something like a higher rep more back version of Stronglifts (Stronglifts gone wrong, "Strangelifts" maybe?), Just while I'm getting used to it again.
Very much missed the gym, but not sure what I'll be going back to?
Any folks from England been back to the gym yet?
Edit: probably a more suitable name for anything I devise would be "WrongLifts"Last edited by OldFartTom; 07-25-2020 at 09:04 AM.

First time back in gym, running WrongLifts 5*10 (5 sets 10).
Wow fkn wow!!! Even on the squats empty bar, going below parallel, fast as I can (although short pause top& bottom so I don't pogo on elasticity) I can really feel that I've done exercise on the inside top thigh. I mean I can feel a workout and it was empty bar.
I am so detrained! I was expecting some, but **** this is more than I'd imagined possible.

Santa Clara County closed the gyms 36 hours after opening them, phuking clown.
San Mateo County still open, so I'm driving 45 mins over the bridge for my gym fix. I have lost so much muscle it's pathetic and the DOMS are crippling. I have been able to do some pullups, biceps curls, triceps dips, and body weight pushups this whole time, so some muscle groups feel less crippled than others. But having to dial down those weights has been soul sucking.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

Cuomo announced that gyms will remain closed indefinitely here in NY. Imagine that....bankrupting thousands....just like that POOF. Of course it will spike again come fall. The way it looks gyms will remain closed here until next year. I don’t see how any gym no matter how financially sound can withstand this.
Keep going....

Terrible... People will go bankrupt, how so many businesses survived so long is astonishing, but to remain closed longer?
Any treatment -- the benefits must outweigh the negative side effects. Not sure if that's the case here, but I'll leave that alone because it's off topic and we've already got a bunch of COVID/political threads on the go. Please can we keep this one on topic of gyms, although I sympathize greatly with those people losing their livelihoods

Yes, the freedom is not freedom to make others sick is the machine that puts a commie at the top.
Chaz is from Canada I see, for some reason I thought he wasn’t, now I know why he don’t seem to understand.
Its perfectly ok to starve folks in commie land, they say they are saving everyone from obesity along with the medical system, just think about JC 40 days of fasting, LOL, I’ll choose death, but let me take out a commie and I die with smile on face!
Jew know the communists, always telling us what to do, Jew know I eat Octupus three tines a day, I got Octupus coming out my phucking ears main, Antonio Montana.

People saying they have been to the gym for months - well try 7 years for me. I used be a gym nut twice a day 7 days a week. But deaths in the family, loss of income took my love away. Its going to be a long road back. I know I can never be obsessed or love the gym like I did before. But if I can just have 30% of passion I had I will be happy.

Gyms here in NJ will be closed forever or at least until the DNC tells Murphy and Cuomo that it's ok. Our levels are back to early March levels - amazing what happens when people stay locked down for 5 months. Can't eat indoors or go to gyms but they are opening schools with a modified schedule. Seems to me opening indoor dining and gyms first would have been a great "test run" for indoor activities. But then again I'm no "expert"

Really?? No, I hope not... have I missed out on news? The new daily cases are slowly growing again not dropping which they want for schools to go back (for example)
I've only just started to return to the gym, still doing linear progression on tiny weights (will take me time to build back to my usual small weights ). Really don't want to stop training again before I've even properly restarted

Chit dude, maybe your thinking of Obama? I can guarantee you it was Obama who picked Harris as VP not Biden.
Let me tell you something else, when my city was rioted, right before the riots, the Democrat mayor made a call to Obama, after that call she told the police to “make room for the rioters to destroy”. This was several years ago and the beginning of police being told to “stand down”.

Was in the gym yesterday, it wasn't a bench day but for some reason was thinking about bench. I'm linear progressing back up from nothing, so this isn't going to be a problem for some time.
But it occurred to me that asking a stranger in the gym if they could quickly spot me on a set, is going to be a problem! It already used to be a little tricky at times, some people are antisocial and decline (it's not like I'm Julius Maddox! Nobody's going to be scared to spot my weights). But with Covid, working in or spotting - a stranger just ain't going to happen any more

Then you need to persuade 2 people to help and I find getting 1 has often been a big challenge so this makes it worse.
Also those 2 people still need to step inside the social distance square taped on floor around the bench so the gym wouldn't be happy. That said they're not really strict and the gym goers seem less strict about this stuff than average Joe.
When I get to that point... definitely no collars (who wants to roll a loaded bar over their guts/nuts/thighs?), probably will end up testing my escape technique at some point
