my picks for biggest busts. trying to keep preseason expectations in mind.
QB Carson Wentz. historically bad after finishing strong last year. never looked anywhere near this bad in his first 3 years
RB1 Mccaffrey, in and out of the lineup, rumors of returning for the fantasy playoffs then the mysterious thigh injury
RB2 Mixon, basically sucked outside of week 4 and then got hurt
WR1 Michael Thomas, never cracked 20 in a half PPR, got hurt a bunch
WR2 Golladay, i had all the expectations on earth of him, i thought he'd do what metcalf did (which was basically his '19).
WR3 DJ Chark, looked like he was about to go nuts this year on a bad team that'd always be behind. instead was inconsistent, ghostly, and had a few little injuries
TE Ertz, mostly a product of his wonderful QB, also hurt
honorable mentions -
Hayden Hurst preseason love didn't translate to much
Mark Ingram, we knew he'd pass the torch eventually but damn
Odell Beckham, right away it was clear he wasn't getting the targets, then he got hurt
Devante Parker, top 10 WR last year, constant nagging injuries all season

Nah, I get it. For some reason, this is a week 17 championship league so it was a semi-final game. I only mention that because I was the 6th seed facing the 1 seed. My team wasn't that good (THANKS MIXON) and I was projected to lose by 10 or so points. I'm not a huge projection fan but it matched my general read as well. Anyway, I mention this because my thought process was I was going to lose with my roster as it was and my only chance was to stack it with as many high-upside guys as I could and hope to get lucky. 2/3 moves backfired spectacularly. Here was my "logic"
Pro Hurts:
- Hurts just went off against a decent AZ
- Dallas is the 6th best defense for QB
- Dallas is the 9th best defense against RB's and Hurts runs a lot
- I feel like the odds of him repeating is pretty high since teams can't gameplan against him with such little notice
It looked like a genius pick at the start. Hurts had a great drive with a rushing TD taken away and then an 81 yard bomb. He was up to like 12 points in the 1st quarter...then disappeared.
Case against Allen:
- He had his worst game of the year vs NE (13 points week 8)
- New England is the 25th best defense against QB's
- Cold-weather games feature less explosive offense (lol)
- He is facing the GOAT coach
It obviously looks bad now but most "experts" had Hurts above Allen in their week 16 rankings.
TL;DR - I'm an idiotLast edited by dyee4613; 12-30-2020 at 06:16 PM.

looking at next year briefly - man i'm taking Derrick Henry 1 overall. i don't care. give me the biggest baddest guy who doesn't get hurt.
people will be going out and getting dalvin cook or mccaffrey. but look around. the last few years we've seen david johnson, saquon, todd gurley, and now CMC go from top dog to injury prone within a year or two. i know he doesn't catch passes so in a full PPR it's probably not smart but otherwise if anyone wants Henry first i don't blame them one bit.

there's a definite top 5 group for next year regardless of format with:
cook
henry
mccaffrey
barkley
kamara
chubb will be close but i think it's tough to overlook the receiving game like you can with henry.
ekeler will probably go really high in PPR.
i could see an argument for adams 1st, but the rarity of a top back is more prevalent now than ever so it would be really tough to not take one in the top 5.

Any one have a resource for fantasy playoffs? I am in a league with 7 guys where you draft 2 QBs, 2 RB, 3 pass catchers (WR/TE), 2 Flex, 2 Def.
I was hoping to find a tierlist or overall rankings list but can't seem to find one based on projected super bowl teamshttps://www.bogleheads.org/ for excellent investing advice for beginners

i think aaron jones' role is pretty clear and won't change. dillion will play and even a third back will play. jones doesn't get the ball 25-30 times a game and doesn't get the easy goal line scores.
despite that he makes the best with what he gets and he's one of the best backs in the league. he's got hands too, rodgers trusts him, it's one of the best teams in the NFC, solid OL. they actually paid him despite a reputation of not paying any skill positions. plenty of reasons to draft him despite knowing there will be lots of times his role frustrates you.
honestly if you don't watch the packers you won't get frustrated by him. last year he came in with 11 scores (combined rush/rec). year before that 19. guy hits the end zone plenty.
both scored similar points in a half-PPR format last season, reek edging him out but not by enough to make this an easy choice. i think i'd keep AJ due to the scarcity at the position.

Drafted a few days ago in a charity league (half of winnings go to charity of their choice). 10 team 0.5ppr 2flex, 9th pick.
Russ
Barkley, Mostert, Sermon, Conner, Gus Edwards, Booker
Hill, McLaurin, Lockett, Diontae Johnson, Landry
Waller
I like how it turned out. Think this year I'm totally fine just taking best RB with 1st pick then filling out the rest of my roster before RB2. Having Barkley be that RB1 is a risk but even if he busts I think the rest of my team can carry my chitty RBs.
