Genetic Hour Glass Shape or just fat? (pics)

Hey I worked out for 8 months before Corona and I put on some muscle on my chest, LAT and also shoulders. Now everything is gone, because I got very depressed when Corona hit and all the gyms had to close. People always told me to eat more and lift heavier. But now the gyms are closed, alll my gains are lost and honestly I have really bad childhood trauma with being fat etc lots of things, so I am not sure that bulking etc and putting on weight will make me more mentally sane. What I am really very embarrassed by are my wide hips. It looks very bad I think. Now I was fat all my childhood and this is still left. I was told make your back and obliques big, but now i have been set back and lost all gains. Im very depressed because of it. I also google researched and I am reading that this kind of shape is genetic and has to do with wide hip bones. But on that third picture I pull one "fat side" back and then it does not look anymore so bad. Cant I just do cutting and like bodyworkout until I am lean/skinny? If thats what bothers me so much? Or would it still be an hour glass shape?

    I am 198 pounds and 6.4 tall

Your hips are not wide, you just have no muscle mass to make you look 'filled out'; gain muscle mass and it will improve things a lot.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

hip size is genetic. you're probably not gonna win any bodybuilding competitions but you look just fine... a lot of guys would kill for that height actually. put on some muscle and you'll look good

You should take the advice of the above 2 experienced posters. Gain some muscle, that's what's going to make a real difference.

Great progress in 3 months, but as stated above, you should work on building your base now!

The manscaping really works for you so stick with that.

Thanks all. Gyms are still closed here because of Corona. So far I have been on a caloric deficit for most of the 2 last months and I have trained with madbarz (a body weight app). I know thats bad for gaining muscles, but like I said gyms closed. I wanted to lose some weight and keep some of the muscles I had. Now my question is what I should do, since the gyms are closed. Does it make sense to go on a caloric surplus in my diet and continue to do bodyweight training for a few months? Would that also build some muscle?

If you apply progressive overload. You will gain strength and size big if there.

It's impossible to give you a real answer because nobody not even you know how serious you will be.

Be consistent. Apply progressive overload and wait.. there are no secrets.
