    Bedtime Sugar Cravings

I don’t know why but right as I get sleepy and start dozing off, I get a sweet tooth surge. This has been happening regularly within recent months (nothing to do with C19).

If I eat candy or something sweet during that time, it’s euphoric as sugar is. But I am a fitness junkie like many of you. I wake up and work out. I eat very well all day.

I started slicing apples and hiding the sweets from myself. But then I went through my Vitamin C chews. Anything in my home with sugar. I want to remove it all but Vitamin C? I have a problem.

I don’t have a nutritionist. Does anyone know why this is? Is it a brain chemical thing? I feel like crap the next morning having binged on sugar at night, reversing a fantastic healthy day.
I ride motorized scooters and skateboards...to the GYM. Not lazy, just having fun and saving money on transportation.

Sugar can be as addictive as drugs or cigarettes for some.
    Everyone is different.
Maybe try a healthy snack like strawberries or other fruit with stevia to sweeten them.
Thats a tough one for someone that is not addicted to sugar to give you good advise.
    Good luck to you.

When I started out I ditched pretty much everything containing added sugar, and had things like strawberries with sweetener.

When I started bulking I'd have a protein bar most nights (and still do) which is very much like a candy bar, and possibly just or almost as bad. But if you're hitting your macros and not going over calories does it matter?

Last time I checked a candy bar was typically 200 calories (possibly less, as they constantly seem to be shrinking). Maybe having one every night is not really so bad as long as you don't binge, and everything else in your diet is in check.

    Maybe try eating an Apple.
It's not quite what you want, but it might just be enough to hold back that sugar appetite?
Faith in Jesus first and faith in squats second.

There's no single method that's going to work. It isn't really about the sugar, it's about the repeated behavior.

Try a sweeter hot tea with sweetener not sugar. Hot liquids can help you feel full and sleepy and herbal tea is good for you. Just avoid caffeine like black tea or green. Tazo Teas are good, Chamomile tea is great, apple cinnamon, cinnamon/spice, fruity ones. They even have gourmet teas with chocolate flavors and desert flavors https://culinaryteas.com/collections/flavored-teas

Being you have a username that focuses on chocolate, I would say you probably have a sweet tooth.

Sugar cravings are common in a lot of people (I am one of them). When i get tiered i also get cravings for eating sweet food, and find it really hard not to simply eat crap. However, cold water, and fatty foods normally do something for the cravings. Cold water temporarily shuts of the hunger, and fats aid the longevity of that feeling.

This is going to sound extremely odd and far fetched, but as an adult i have yet to experience a "sugar craving" I just don't have a craving for donuts, candy, deserts, etc.

But have a huge appetite for beer, so the trade off is a wash

I find that a square of Godiva dark chocolate with sea salt eaten slowly leaves you with the feeling that you had a desert item for only about 37 Calories. YMMV

You need to find what works for you. You are either one who can handle a reasonable amount of these sugary foods, a' la If It Fits Your Macros, or you're one who will let even a small amount of these types of foods "trigger" you to overeat. Assuming you have total control over what is brought into your pantry (perhaps you live with someone who will insist that some of these foods remain because of them), just stop buying them.

I have a huge sweet tooth too. This may sound like I'm joking but I'm not: I can eat Honey Nut Cheerios in a responsible manner, but Cinnamon Toast Crunch is like crack for me and it'll trigger me to eat and eat.

you notice that too! And +1 on behavioral pattern, perhaps all there is to it. Sweetchockolate or whatever the fk your sugary name is, try going keto for a while. This will shut down sugar cravings forever.

Another thing about cravings in general. It often is lack of hydration. Drink two glasses of water and wait 20 minutes. There will be no cravings, or you didn't do it.

Habits probably explain a big part of what we call "cravings".
