Keto will just make your food choices more difficult and probably make you miserable because of the restrictions.

    You don't need fad diets.

Calories in, calories out. High protein. Resistance training. Be in a calorie deficit.

It's that simple. No need for intermittent fasting or keto, or juicing diets, or meat with every meal.

Just burn more than you eat.

It has specific uses for people with insulin resistance.

For the general (presumably healthy) population, it works just the same as any other diet - by restricting total calorie intake. Some (including me) find the restrictive foods choices inconvenient - but others may like the simplified menu. The foods typically chosen are often filling - but you can achieve that with a mixed diet too using a mixture of meat, eggs and vegetables without worrying about the carb content of the vegetables.

If you count calories and hit your weekly goals then KETO has no benefit given the same calories with a carb inclusive diet. KETO works for many people that don't count calories and base their intake on hunger. KETO tends to be more satiating and can keep hunger at bay allowing for a low cal diet to be more tolerable however again, no benefit if calories are the same as other eating plans.

    1. Keto is no better or worse than any other diet. The point being to be in a calorie deficit if you want to lose fat. However, many people find it difficult to handle the lack of carbs in their diets.

    2. No diet is really going to help you "lose weight AND gain muscle" at the same time. Those are conflicting goals and generally have to be addressed separately.

Lose weight: yes. Gain muscle: probably not.

Eating more fat will keep you feeling full longer though, and if you get into ketogenesis, your body will start burning its fat resources for energy.

But in the end it still comes down to cals in vs cal out.

Intermittent fasting is another good one to try. Eat proper breakfast and lunch, don't eat after 18:00. If you feel hungry after that time, have a glass of water.

    Good luck.
