It’s not to disrespect the flag, the military, the Americans who are easily triggered by such an innocuous act. Is wearing an american flag tshirt viewed as disrespectful? Typically not even though it goes against flag code. Is standing in line at the beer stand while the anthem is played disrespectful? Typically it’s not looked down upon because there isn’t an intention to be disrespectful. Calling my friend an ******* in jest is a lot different than saying it in an argument or to a stranger on the street. If kaep’s intent isn’t to be disrespectful to the flag can it really be viewed as such?
