Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers declares a public health emergency

Wisconsin is one of the latest states to require citizens to wear a face covering when they're indoors in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

According to the governor's order, face coverings are required for anyone 5 or older who is in an enclosed space, except for a private residence. Coverings are also required if another person who is not a member of the household is in the enclosed space.
Otherwise, masks "are strongly recommended in all other settings, including outdoors when it is not possible to maintain physical distancing."
There are exceptions, including while swimming or visiting the dentist. The order is enforceable by a fine of up to $200, though it's unclear how enforcement will work.

We are now “safely back in IL” lol. No missing the news of their requirement though. Must have seen it on 20 electronic billboards on our way home. People working in restaurants were already wearing them but that was about it that I saw. City of Chicago would have me on a 14 day mandatory quarantine from returning from there, despite our active caseload being double theirs and even based on cases per/mil population.

That's because Evers the governor is a fukking chimp who doesn't do anything except watch the other chimp governor throw $hit so he decides to join the fray and play along. Our case load is dropping like flies and yet this @sshat waits 7 months to do anything? Can riot and destroy downtown Madison but don't you dare walk into a Piggly Wiggly without a mask.

Inslee in Wa state is like that too. Right now he's having a 3 way with Kate Brown (OR) and Gavin Newsome (CA). Gavin is having his way with both of them. If Gavin so much as farts about another restriction, WA and OR are already on board and do the same. If Gavin says no school...damn it there will be no school! Meanwhile, people next door in Idaho are like wtf is wrong with you retards?

I thought the court basically told him to fuk off months ago with any public health mandates? It was like the twilight zone coming back to Illinois and seeing everyone masked up again on the other side of the state line. Beautiful country up there though, the geology of the area is pretty neat along the river. Probably going to come back again in the winter but only do 4 days, the kids were pretty much done on day 5, and we just left on day 6 even though we could have used the waterparks all day after checkout.

Ya it was a great trip. The kids were wiped out every night from all day playing. Hopefully it made up a little bit for their messed up summer with pools closed, playgrounds all taped off etc.

That was with a republican majority on the bench, one of them is being replaced & Evers waited until that judges last day to issue his little mandate:
"You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

Was thinking about this yesterday: any solution to a problem that involves making people do something completely unnatural to them is doomed to fail. Simple as that. People may play along for a short time, but they will eventually stop doing it. And this is true of a number of things. It's why prohibition fails. It's why communism fails even in small communes where people are there voluntarily. It's why severe prohibitions about sex fail. And it's why the whole mask and social distancing fails. People were ok doing it for a bit, but we have been going for 5 months now, and they say it may continue to the end of the year and more. Well people will simply not do something so unnatural for that long. It wouldn't matter if science told us unequivocally it was the only way to go. Any long term solution that involves forcing people do to something highly unnatural is doomed to fail, and a solution doomed to fail is not a solution. Solutions need to be not only effective, but realistic.

    There, that's my 2 cents.

People were not doing it, though. And they opened everything before the recommendations. The cases went up again, and they had to close again. So if they keep opening and closing, then that just delays more than helps. I was supposed to go back to work July but then the cases went up again, and everything got closed again.

There are still people who don't wear them, and there will always be. Same with helmets.
Besides that's not a good comparison, it's like saying people look left and right before crossing the road. Yes they do because it's obvious to anyone that if you don't there may be a car coming and run you over. Same with seatbelt, it's very easy to see cause and effect: car stops suddenly you are propelled forward. Car stops suddenly enough, you are propelled forward hard enough to hit the window. And preventing an obvious threat is, in fact, human nature.
Masks and distancing are not as obvious. First for the obvious reason we don't see germs. If we could see germs, we'd go crazy, there's germs in your mouth right now, under your fingernails, on your toothbrush before you put it in your mouth, etc. Moreover many of these rules are seen as arbitrary and illogical. First they are told unless you wear specific masks with filters, masks are useless. Then they tell you a t-shirt over your face is enough. People aren't as stupid as some of these folks think, they are perfectly capable of figuring out a t-shirt doesn't do much. Then they tell you with a t-shirt germs go one way only, they can come in but not come out ("you don't wear it for your protection, you wear it for other people's protection"). I mean a brain damaged child would see the problem with the 1-way t-shirt concept.
And finally social behavior is a cornerstone of human nature, it came long long before cars and seatbelts. Riding a car is already "unnatural" enough if you wish. But talking to people face to face? Socializing? That was going on when we were still swinging from trees. So yes these measures are so contrary to human nature they cannot last, no matter how hard they try, you can't stomp over millions of years of evolution.

There is nothing at all natural about strapping yourself down inside of a metal cage.

It's also very easy to see cause and effect of wearing a mask during a global respiratory virus pandemic.

Unfortunately, some people are not smart enough to comprehend this.

Depends if you believe in Herd Immunity or not. If not you are waiting until likely next spring until we know if a vaccine is working.

I just moved to a smaller community, the town nearest to me has barely 11000 people, zero active cases, hasn't been for a while, the last two days I has been busy af around town, everyone social distancing, very courteous and all wearing masks. I still don't understand all the fuss people kick up about a piece of cloth, not that big of a deal.

I agree, no big deal. I also see the majority wearing them when I happen to go out.

But one assumption that is being made is that all of the cases are because of people not wearing masks, I doubt that is the case.

    Right?

Some people just like to stand out by being *******s for the sake of it. I was at FedEx yesterday. They require a mask/face covering. It says so right on the door, huge, can't miss it. Woman comes in with a pile of boxes to ship, stops just inside the door to look around at where to go, woman at shipping counter calls out and welcomes her but says a mask or face covering is required to enter the store. So woman sighs audibly, yells out the door to her husband who is on the way that you have to have a mask, then walks into the store and zig zags in between people social distancing in line (within 1 foot of some) while audibly sighing (IOW, exhaling forcefully and openly) as she walks by them, sets the boxes on the counter next to somebody, then walks back through the crowd to the door to to get her mask.

Not sure if attention whore or just has to act like an ******* at every opportunity.

    Its working for Sweeden.

They did nothing and while all of europe is getting the second wave, their rates of new infections have been dropping. 60+% in last few week.

Now people will say they had a higher death rate (#5 of developed countries) but they admitted they did make one mistake. They did not treat 'high risk' patients and just sent them home figuring their hospital beds would be over run. That never happened, so people who could have been treated in a hospital setting did not get treatment. Hence higher death rates initially

But long story short. No shut down, and they are coming out of Covid while the rest of the world flails in it.
