Agree. Was citing recent study on mask effectiveness which showed it reduced projection of particulates from as much as 10' down to 12-18". Great for particulates which fall to ground fairly quickly.

The interesting thing was face shields were equally as effective unless wearer was significantly above others. Short people get shafted again!

I know this will be disregarded because it's on Brietbart but read on what the study from Duke University discovered.

Probably true thinking about it. I use gators cause they meet the definition and are convenient. I should have been asleep about 3 hours ago but we had an inland hurricane (derecho) and I haven’t had power since 4pm. Luckily there’s only 500,000 outages around Chicago, lol... which was a war zone last night. So after waiting and hoping, then scrambling around to get fresh fuel etc, I’m listening to the Yamaha generator hum and power the freezers and fridge. 2020 strikes again.

Generator is going to need a carb job, it’s only running somewhat smooth on half choke. Hope the bottle of sea foam I added with the fresh fuel does some magic. Tomorrow is going to be rough. Trees are just shredded from 80 mph winds.

Mitigate is not a good reason for mandating something by law. Freedom > mitigate. To restrict freedom the government better have an airtight reason, and I mean overwhelming. "It may make things a little bit better" doesn't sound like it.
Which doesn't change the fact anyone who wants to wear a mask should totally wear one. Anyone who wants to throw a burka over the mask can go right ahead. Anyone who'd rather just stay home altogether gets my thumbs up.
But imposing it by law because it may mitigate? Not good enough, sorry.
BTW I can see mandatory covid vaccine getting imposed by the same logic.

Yeah I agree, it is not right to force the many to protect the few in terms of legal requirements. I think the better way would be for business to mandate it, no mask no service if they want to, or not. It's just another effect of clown world. All of the dollars and guidance should be going toward protecting those at risk for a bad outcome. I have seen enough data at this point that I have zero concern for myself or my family. Some concern for my parents in the mid 60s and more for those who are 80+...That's where people need to focus on protection from contracting the virus. While there is some "risk" for normal healthy people to have a bad outcome, the data shows that it is far below risks of other things. Not sure if I posted this ITT but medical errors are a leading cause of death, coming in at 250,000 per year in the US, and we pay for the opportunity to take that risk....

I have zero concern for myself, call me fatalistic but I came to terms with the fact I will eventually check out at some point a long time ago.

The only 2 people I willingly wear a mask for are
    1) A close friend whose child has the worst case of allergies in human history. It's so bad he takes drugs that lower his immune system to the bare minimum, which then puts him at risk for every other infection.
    2) My elderly neighbor with congestive heart failure and a host of other severe chronic health problems. He himself doesn't give a phuk. But if he wants me to wear a mask around him, I'm fine with it. He never asked me tho.
The way I see it, if we only quarantined or protected in some way those kinds of people, we would have avoided a ton of deaths. Instead a blanket imposition of lock downs and masks only pissed people off. As soon as "mask fatigue" set in, people stopped wearing the mask even in those very few instances where it may have been a good idea.

I didn't watch all of it, but when Biden and his running mate did their speech thing together, he was totally compos mentis.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.

Hindsight is always 20/20. We clearly couldn't trust data coming out of China, and had no idea who, how, it would affect and what the outcome would be. There was simply not enough data to know what to do other than wide ranging mitigation. Even now its hard to protect the elderly since many have no choice but to go to stores etc (although most of the elderly I have spoken to have honestly not given a fuk about COVID for whatever reason). The mask thing is a minor inconvenience to me I do it for others comfort. I do want to see the fear mongering brought down a few notches by the MSM. I'd like to see the schools open but also feel that there are probably teachers who should be given accommodation of some sort to become the online teachers and sticking the younger teachers in the classrooms. That's a tough sell, but IMO a reasonable middle ground if they have adequate staff to do it. No matter what we do, the virus likely isn't going away anytime soon even with a vaccine. As much as I would like everyone to be "safe" I don't want to live the rest of my life like some kind of monk.

So people have been intimately exposed to this via marriage kids etc. and never got it while the person who had it had symptoms.

If someone can kiss thier sick spouse and not get sick, then the whole mask thing is BS and just a feel good thing.

By all means wear your mask if it makes you feel good, but I don’t see any evidence and science to support a mandate.

BTW, when to the liquor store the guy working inside by himself had his mask on stocking the shelf, in walks a fat sloppy guy from the fire department with a clip board saying they revived a complaint that an employee was not wearing a mask, no proof, nothing, the guy working is baffled, the fatass from the fire department says they gets these calls all day long. He began telling the guy next violation is a fine then we’ll strip the liquor licsense, I made a remark about snitches while I was leaving, but I don’t think the guy was trying be a dick, however I was tempted to say “so that’s what the fire dept assigns thier our of shape guys” but left it alone since he was just giving a warning.

I have to say I was really surprised by his demeanor, because it was completely different than in the Joe Rogan video I saw the other day. I figured he was either off the meds that turned him into a zombie or whatever he was on, finally kicked in.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.

If he was on Rogans show, then they smoked up, Rogan is proud cannibis user and I’m sure Biden is too, but Biden isn’t going to do it on the air.

Rogan gets very stupid when he is doped up on the show.

Biden wasn't a guest. They were showing videos of his behaviour. I wasn't signed in, so it's not in my 'viewing history'.
