Was listening to a Sam Harris podcast a while back and he made a point that I thought was really good, he compared the black community to a person recovering from a car accident.
Imagine you’re walking across the street perfectly legally, and you get hit by a car. The person driving the car was drunk and ran a red light. You survive with terrible injuries, and the doctors say that the only way for you to recover is to endure years of grueling physical therapy.
The person who hit you also happens to be Bill Gates. You might say “this isn’t fair! Bill Gates should pay for me to get surgery!” But it turns out that all the money in the world and the best surgeons can not fix your injuries. Years of physical therapy is the only way. Then you might say “well it was Bill Gates’ fault, he should be the one who does the physical therapy for me!” But of course, he can’t do it for you, you’re the only one who can do it.
The idea is that you didn’t cause this problem, so it’s not fair that you should have to fix it, but the reality is that you’re the only one who CAN fix it. And if you spend your life claiming that you shouldn’t have to fix your problem because Bill Gates should fix it for you, then it will simply never get fixed.
He also pointed out that Asian people have faced comparable hardships in America. Tons of discrimination, hatred, oppression, internment camps etc., but they accepted the unfair situation, worked their asses off, and now they’re arguably more successful than white people in this country. He argued that black people will never do the same until they lose the attitude of “its the white mans fault so it’s the white man’s responsibility.”
What do you guys think?

Is it any different from incels or women or any other group who loves to play the victim?
Incels - it’s not my fault, it’s all genetics, social media, online dating, etc
Women - it’s not my fault, it’s the patriarchy keeping me down
They’re all right to some extent, but whining isn’t gonna change anything
There are plenty of successful black people, short/ugly people, women, etc.
Sure they had it harder than others, but that’s life - you play the cards you’re dealt

Agree with the analogy, I don’t like anyone with a chip on their shoulders, that think everyone owes them a living or an apology.
However...
The Black community differ from the (highly successful here also) Chinese/Japanese/etc etc in terms of their treatment historically.
Yeah, the Chinese railroad workers were hardly making bank and working union hours, but they were NOT bought and sold like cattle and used for back breaking labour in the fields or in the mines, or much worse. And segregated from the civilised white folks right up until a handful of decades ago.
Black people have legit beef in the US, in terms of empirical evidence and these days, actual video evidence of being profiled and at a higher risk of ending up dead during engagements with law enforcement.
It’s tricky as I can see both sides of the argument. I wouldn’t want to be either a cop, or a black male in AmericaPer Mare Per Terram crew*

we all got hit by cars as groups of people and on top of that we are all dealing with our own issues. One person can scream racism/sexism/etc-ism but dont know that the person has a retarded son that they spend the majority of their time and money on.
If any of you need to chat, PM me. I'm here for you boyos.

Black people sold other black people into slavery. I hate when black people bring up slavery these days like it some how affects them in 2020.
They have higher risk of ending up dead when dealing with cops, because blacks in general commit more crimes. I seriously do not mean to sound racist but its true.
As a community black needs to come together, put the past (slavery n ****) behind them instead of the community of victim mentality that they are. Obviously not all black folk are like this, but a huge amount are, more than any other ethic group here in America.

Comparable, not equal. Asian people have been at different times forcibly deported, forbidden to own land or property, forced out of their homes and into internment camps, used as disposable workers in brutal conditions, been forced out of business due to racism...
No they were never owned as slaves, but the point is they started at the bottom with massive obstacles ahead of them and worked their way to the top.
Also, the black community’s current situation is nowhere near as bad as the situation that the Asian community rose from, however the black community’s situation just isn’t improving.
The left doesn’t like the idea that minorities can solve their own problems. They think minorities are helpless and the way to help is by giving them free handouts. It’s almost like they secretly want them to stay in poverty...Last edited by x420SwagScopex; 05-29-2020 at 06:15 PM.

what is this forums obsession with black people lol
like wtf did I do, my family and i are well off people financially that work and earned it and I gotta hear this **** on this forum? lol wtf
what, are you talking about poor people? and the crime that exists amongst poor people in low socioeconomic communities? Or are you implying ALL black people have this genetic thing that makes them violent and makes excuses...and just don't have it together like the white masterrace? lol okay that's sure scientific jeff.
are you talking about crime? you speak as if all blacks are in the same boat or something. im confused.
also, some of you need to stop being pussies and make a thread like this on the.coli or resetera or something and debate them, making threads like this on a forum where you're talking to a group that will circle jerk you is a b*tch move.[QUOTE=Polaris;1606964451] Sociology isn't a "science" btw. 05-29-2020, 06:17 PM #23Since 1965, shifting immigration patterns have resulted in a higher proportion of highly educated Asian immigrants entering the United States.[3] This image of success is often referred to as the "model minority" myth."'Asian American' was an idea invented in the 1960s to bring together Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino Americans for strategic political purposes. Soon other Asian-origin groups, such as Korean, Vietnamese, Hmong, and South Asian Americans, were added."[1] For example, while many Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino immigrants arrived as unskilled workers in significant numbers from 1850 to 1905 and largely settled in Hawaii and California,The Japanese arrived in large numbers 1890–1907, many going to Hawaii (an independent country until 1898), and others to the West Coast. Hostility was very high on the West Coast, but not especially violent. Hawaii was a multicultural society in which the Japanese experienced about the same level of distrust as other groups. Indeed, they were the largest population group by 1910, and after 1950 took political control of Hawaiiinclusion can and has been used to undermine the activism of African Americans, indigenous peoples and other marginalized groups in the United States. In the words of writer Frank Chin in 1974, “Whites love us because we’re not black.”

Yes it’s true. Black tribal chiefs sold slaves to the traders. Some traders simply took their own though too.
And yes, slavery is irrelevant in 2020.
But that doesn’t mean it’s not the catalyst for anger 100s of years later. Wholesale ancestral and racial humiliation, isn’t something that goes away unfortunately.
Also aweir that it’s a dangerous business for the police too, hence my last sentence.Per Mare Per Terram crew*
