-Retro 240z inspired design
-3.0tt 400hp motor from the Q50/Q60
-6 speed manual and 9AT transmissions
-Nismo version rumored to have 500hp
Looks like this could be a reskinned 370z, so weight should be around 3200-3500lbs depending on trim packages.
As a current 370z owner I'm going to miss the N/A V6, but very excited to drive this car when it's released.

I used to have a 350z. That guy was so much fun to drive. Very light, great handling and pulled pretty good for being stock.
I can't imagine a 400hp TT in a car that small. Would be very fun.Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

If Nissan is smart, they will bring this in at a price point that undercuts the Supra.
There really isn't much in the way of a legit sports car in the sub $50k category, especially with a 6MT.
Supra pushes $60k+ when optioned out and no manual.
Cayman is a brilliant car, but even more expensive.
Miata and BRZ/86 are under-powered and although cheaper, couldn't begin to compete with what this car could offer.
Toyota is bringing the 4 cylinder turbo to the Supra line up, which would likely be in that mid 40's price range along with the Z, but I don't think anyone in their right mind is picking up a 4 cylinder auto Supra over a 3.0TT Z in 6MT unless you're an Instagram hoe looking for a "sporty" car to pose with.
Very excited for this. Won't buy one, because I am all about that AWD, but still, very excited.

Still remember this commercial and why I bought my first Z, they fell off after that, the 350 was hideous, the 370 was underpowered for the competition, hopefully this brings a fraction of it back but looking at the outline I'm not too hopeful. These days it's either GTR or nothing from them, the rest of the lineup is absolute trash minus a few vehicles which offroad brahs might like.

What's funny is some weeks ago i had been thinking that Nissan should bring back a newer 240z design.
400 stock horsepower at 3400lbs, that thing is gonna be fast. The Q50 motor already has tons of aftermarket support, a simple APR tune will get you to 500hp easy. All of that on top of having the 240z, sounds like a knock out the park. The only way they can fail is if they cheap out and use plastic in the interior. The 240z boyz will be pulling up to Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers.
Starting MSRP will be $40,000Last edited by MikeLowrrrey; 05-29-2020 at 12:29 PM.

I think the 9 speed auto is made by ZF but it's still NO ZF8. That trans is just, the freaking best.
Hopefully the car does good. If it is the same engine as the Q50/60, hopefully they make it more efficient as a lot of Q owners are replacing their turbos as early as 40k. No wonder you can get used red sports for like 30k now, 2018 models too.

The Supra is a rebadged BMW. The 3.0TT engine is a Mercedes engine. Nissan's Infiniti line has quite a bit of these Benz engines like that 2.0 DIG turbo engine. Mercedes engines with Mercedes problems.
Anyways it's about time. Fact is it has just had a few tweaks since 2003. The market for a car like that is there.

For comparison it takes 880hp to get a Cadillac Escalade into the high 12's.
Horsepower isn't really a good indicator of overall performance.
I was just pointing out that for something labeled a "sports car" it should be quicker.
When I think "sports car" I'm thinking at least low 12's/high 11's.
Nissan dropped the ball on this and people looking for sports car will continue to buy Mustang/Corvette etcMod neg Cry-Baby Crew

But what if someone doesn't race their car on a road course?
It can work both ways.
I get what the other guy is saying, an explorer, tuned, making that much power, and it's not a sports car. But it's a vehicle that can do it all. Can't say the same for most sports cars.
It just so happens he made his explorer faster. So now it's more versatile than your typical sports cars.
Sports cars are low, have lesser visibility, can only seat 2 (sometimes), RWD (so not ideal in snow but can be done) and not exactly comfortable for the everyday commute.
His explorer doesn't have any of those issues above, and is as fast or faster, than whatever red sport stock.
The red sports, IMHO failed, because of the price point new, and for what you get. Not to mention the auto they used is trash. Hopefully they fix this performance issue for the new nissan Z. Their infotainment is just like lexus, old and trash.

An SUV is always more versatile than a sports car, tuned or not. No one is arguing that. His SUV may be quicker in a straight line than some sports cars. So what?
My first point is this - laughing at another car because yours can accelerate quicker is a fools game. There's almost always someone with more money that will have a faster car to destroy your ego. While bang for the acceleration buck is important to some it's not important to many.
My second point is this - not everyone cares about going fast in a straight line nor accelerating from a stop light. It's foolish and egotistical to laugh at those with slower cars.
My third point is - his SUV can't do it all. Put it on a road course and watch it flail and cook the brakes when driven by someone who knows how to drive. I've seen it at the tracks at which I teach.
I respect your opinion (even if I disagree with it) that you think the red sports is a failure. My opinion, just as valid, is that some will buy it and think it's a great car. We all have different wants and needs out of a vehicle.
Some will buy the new Z even if there are quicker cars for the $. This is because they're fans of Nissan, or hey like the looks of the car, or a myriad of other reasons.Last edited by PlanoLifter; 06-08-2020 at 03:59 PM.

Where were you when everyone here was ripping on Jaguar and calling it a piece of ****? I'm not a big fan of brand loyalty in general. No one should support a brand based on emotion.
You keep making the comparison between an SUV and a Sports car. I pointed that out to show how horrible this car is from a monetary value perspective.
We could start comparing it to competitor's in the 370z price range which would turn this into a blood bath.
