Switching from distance running to powerlifting?

Hoping to possibly get some advice on switching from running to lifting. I’m a 20 year old guy who currently runs long distance, mainly focusing on marathons. I’m 5’7 and around 145 lbs. I love running but to be honest I’m getting sick of how skinny you have to be to be good at it. The calorie restriction to keep from putting on weight sucks. I also won’t be able to compete in any races until October of 2021 due to some uncontrollable circumstances, so training that long without a goal would be rough. I’ve always been really interested in powerlifting and I’m thinking of making a switch. I’ve looked at stronglifts 5x5 and I wanted to see if that would be a good place to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

Coming from distance running, any lifting you do will make a significant difference. 5x5 would be a solid start.
