dips will do that. I avoided them for years after ruining my shoulders several times

use a narrow grip and pinch your shoulder blades together to isolate the triceps and minimize pec/shoulder. also do rear delt flys before and after your workout with a dumbell or a water jug if you don’t have any weights.

don’t take pain killers. I fukked up my shoulder on bench 2 years back and had to go to an orthopedic surgeon cause I didn’t let it heal properly. 99% of the time it’s weak rear delts

Get it checked out to determine how bad the tear might be. I've had partial tears on both shoulders in the past and time healed it. But if it's bad enough then surgery might be in order.

i cant even sleep on right shoulder, my arm hanging down kills it

that’s shoulder impingement not RC. the bicep tendon can get inflamed during shoulder injuries

Pain in the front of the shoulder and weakness are common symptoms of biceps tendinitis. They can often be relieved with rest and medication. In severe cases, surgery may be needed to repair the tendon.

RC tear you wouldn’t be able to raise your hand above your head

yeah, when i move it around i can hear it crunch

so the bones have inflamed the tendon ?

other than ibuprofen what else can be done ?

yeah, if i press on it , the pain can be centered right on the long head in that pic

would massaging that point help or worsen?

see, this is why i asked , all lifters go thru injuries , don't have to be a dr

that’s the tendon sliding around. use ice on your shoulder to reduce the inflammation.

do rear dealt flys and RC flys to improve blood flow to the tendon so it heals.

stop doing fukking dips. you aren’t 20.

i know man , 54, never again trust me

i did notice after i stopped lifting it got worse

you think moving the shoulder around even with no weight would help it improve?

constantly massaging would help blood flow as well wouldn't it

just seems to make pain worse initially

Held a 12 gauge wrong the first time I shot. Never went to a doctor but the only way it healed was unfortunately 1.5 years of not lifting and the pain finally went away. Some people get ****ed for much longer then me, or for life it’s never the same. They take a long ass time bro and that’s if it ever gets right

    def all of this

Pain or tenderness in the front of the shoulder, which worsens with overhead lifting or activity
Pain or achiness that moves down the upper arm bone
An occasional snapping sound or sensation in the shoulder
light weight. I mean 5lbs or less it’s not for muscle building.

you don’t want the shoulder to lock up and permanently decrease your range of motion.

you can do it with one arm resting on a table. train one side then the other

do 15-20+ reps. I injured my shoulder 2 years ago and couldn’t even bench 135 without pain. now I’m up to ~365 bench working for 405. no pain any more

I had a fully torn rotator cuff and had it repaired. You wouldn't be able to lift your arm above your head without crippling pain if it was your rotator cuff. You should get it checked out just to see what the injury is. Some tears aren't going to heal on their own. Some will.

Injured mine way back on the pec fly machine when one of the clips failed and pulled my arm back further than normal. Fukd me up for a while but seems to have healed itself although besides general exercise hasn't really been tested.

My father had a rotator cuff injury. He eventually had surgery done. He was in a good amount of pain for a long time. He'd often mention that he wished he had not had the operation done but instead opted for some kind of exercise therapy that was offered as an option to the surgery.

it's what said above, 100% bicep tendonitus

i'm sure a life in the trades hasn't helped

600mg ibu every 6 hours , massage it constantly and some of those movements , bout all i can do it seems

    and stop sleeping on it

pain can be pinpointed rubbing outside and front of where that long head attaches

like i said , working or lifting , it doesn't bother me as much , i stopped both and it has gotten worse just sleeping on it

i'm guessing lack of blood flow from this thread

other than not using it , what did you do? not sure i wana start downing ibuprofen

they say vit d and k make it better but did you find they made it worse ?
Yeah i was doing really deep dips as well as heavy benching(315 for reps) and the weaker side was clicking and hurting so badly that i focused on other body parts instead. A chiro gave me exercises and i used pills for a while, but what i realized was that doing nothing for a good *3 months*was best so that it had time to fully heal. I worked my way back slowly, gradually stretching and doing the 3 rotator cuff exercises that most people have seen/read about.
sums it up a thread will start off promising and then turn into name calling..

i may have done this a while ago, and using it just never noticed it till i stopped using it

i mean it's been a nuisance since the dips , but with my job i have no choice but to power thru

now, doing nothing , it seems to have flamed even more

Mine wasn't an acute injury, it was an imbalance that caused alot of pain and discomfort. So what I did isn't going to help you in the short term.

I stopped doing bench press for 6 months, I increased my workload for pulling movements and added rotator cuff warm up movements to the beginning of all of my lifting workouts
ALL I ASK IS ALL YOU GOT FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES

Then i would focus on the exercises and movements without weights for a period of time.

    Best of luck!

another thing i'm learning , as you get older , sleeping on your shoulders start to cause issues , the cartilage doesn't seem as strong and it collapses the shoulder much easier

i have chronic rhinosinusitus which is primarily in my right sinus

so, for years i have slept primarily on my left shoulder so the right side of my skull drains over to left during sleep

i gota start forcing myself to sleep on back and that's it

i'm sure that's part of it

back in the day I used to bench press with elbows completely flared out with a chit load of weight ... I think I strained the rotator cuff doing this
