    Trump will win again.
    Not because people like him.
Not because he has an amazing record.
    Because of Joe Biden.

The US general election will ask the electorate to choose the better of the two candidates presented, and that won't be Biden.
No, he’ll win exactly because people like him. Look at the attendance at his rallies. People actually love him. I’m There is no such thing as an ideal candidate except in your imagination. You’re just coping.

Lol at people loving any modern day politician who doesn't give a phuck about them or the issues (which includes Trump.) That is for the very simple minded.

    3) make ridiculous bull**** excuses for democrats

    4) repeatedly state how much America sucks in comparison to glorious 21st Century nambah wan China

Yet record # of people were showing up for his rallies . Your cognitive dissonance is pretty incredible.

    Pick one:
-people lining up for hours and hours in the hot weather for a chance of getting into a trump rally

The extreme, neoconservative movement that dominated the Republican Party for far too long was exactly what concerned me since I was young growing up through it, and then seeing it not be put to rest. Really, it was up until Trump took the candidacy that the Republican Party's own establishment took a major blow and was forced into a much needed shakeup.

I, too, did not like Bush Jr.'s policies, nor his leadership into the Middle East (again) for one example, as his legacy truly does not merely haunt us to this day, but continues with seemingly no end in sight through the ongoing instability pervading the subcontinent. Seeing how he is now, while reflecting on his always amicable personality, I lean increasingly towards him being more of a figurehead who receives the wealth of blame because of his position and role championing the wars.

Just as we see an establishment pushing agendas with the Democratic Party, albeit far more transparently, I am confident that there was also a neoconservative playbook, with figures like Carl Rove serving as convincing, supporting evidence to that end. Bush Jr. is likable, folksy, funny, and even self-deprecating, so he certainly stood out amongst those around him, so his charisma alone would made him the perfect figurehead. Poor decisions and long lasting consequences aside for a moment, I will give him credit for his handling of 9/11, a completely unexpected and unprecedented event that echos with us to this day.

The general nature of political parties likely breeds internal order and goals, and I suspect that we were seeing an underlying system of quid pro quo behind even Trump's candidacy and then victory, leading to the various Republicans who were initially against him in some manner, only to become appointees under his administration.

I can understand that to an extent because it is politics, as the say. What stood out to me, however, was the different courses taken by both parties during the 2016 nominations. Regardless of how Republican politicians felt about Trump, they honored the will of the people in the end by nominating him, whereas the Democratic Party made it abundantly clear that their candidate had already been chosen whether or not some surprise hit like Bernie Sanders was flying too close to the sun for their liking.

Now in 2020, history seems to have repeated itself to an almost eerie degree on the left. Why I find this so specifically troublesome is that although I might vehemently disagree with Bernie Sander, no matter which party's candidate wins, they are to be the leader of the United States and all of its people, yet the Democratic Party acts as though they are nominating the leader of the left half of Congress instead.

In hindsight, it is incredible to see the dramatic shift in the Republican Party from its trajectory during the Bush Jr. era and into the Obama administration, which has only helped it appeal to more moderates and independents by being more relevant to the needs of broader Americans instead of the once limited scope. Meanwhile, the left and Democratic Party only seem to be hurtling towards the furthest reaches of political extremes, alienating more and more everyday people. Even when the Republican Party pushes for something which others might not agree with, myself included, the left has effectively created a political vacuum that continues to edge out choices because of the widening reach of its extremes.

Read every word. That is a particularly good point about the DNC ignoring their own voters.

And the summary is part of why I really can't even pretend to have a solid grip on which candidate is most likely to win the presidency.

I find it a little interesting that the Republicans generally have taken up an interpretation of current events that looks something like "the pandemic and resulting negative economic impact are detrimental to Trump and so are being hyped up by the left" and "vote by mail is a plot by Dems to enable massive voter fraud". I say this because of general voter profiles that usually depict conservative voters as being more driven by fear and less open to new ideas. Also because I believe that the Republican voter base trends older than the Democratic voter base.

Those things being true I think it is coin toss as to how the progress of the virus and the economic results will sway the election.

Yes, it is normal that when the economy goes south that voters choose to change parties. But it is also true that in times of crisis voters aren't keen on changing leadership. So worsening reports on the virus and the economy might actually inspire a fear based voter to actually be sure and vote and to also vote for the incumbent.

Similar issue on vote by mail. AFAIK there has been very little actual proof found regarding voter fraud and since the Republican voters trend older being able to vote by mail (avoid crowds, don't have to drive/get a ride) might increase their voter participation.

    Ka-ching.

The problem is how dumb people in general are, and how fanatically they support "their team". Election after election, they're presented with the choice of toppings on a dog sht sandwich, and instead of saying "fck off, all you've done is wrap a dog turd in a piece of bread", they say "I'm a mustard guy, and will never have ketchup, and thank you for my delicious sandwich".

Good thing Trump is a Democrat like JFK. Trump is literally implementing a mix of JFK, Reagan and Bill Clinton policies.

Many Republican career politicians are just as corrupted as many Democrat career politicians, WHO WOULD'VE EXPECTED THAT?

    Thank OP, nobody knew!

“Many religions now come before us with ingratiating smirks and outspread hands, like an unctuous merchant in a bazaar. They offer consolation and solidarity and uplift, competing as they do in a marketplace. But we have a right to remember how barbarically they behaved when they were strong and were making an offer that people could not refuse.”

Howard Stern Says Donald Trump “Despises” MAGA Voters
    https://deadline.com/2020/05/howard-...rs-1202933838/

“The oddity in all of this is the people Trump despises most, love him the most,” said Stern on Tuesday. “The people who are voting for Trump, for the most part … He wouldn’t even let them in a f*cking hotel. He’d be disgusted by them. Go to Mar-a-Lago, see if there’s any people who look like you. I’m talking to you in the audience.”

No one should be the least surprised by this, actually. Trump is a huckster by trade and obviously knows how to bait and hook for the sale, with tried and true techniques of sleight of hand. I've studied a fair few of his speeches; everything he says is riddled with red meat aimed at rallying disenfranchised white trash nationalists and old school battlers to his fanbase.

In reality, though, he is a malignant narcissist who only cares about himself and his rich friends. Trump is ultimately a reality TV buffoon, not a politician. What the layfolk don't understand is that Trump never wanted to actually be President. As in, he didn't want the ongoing job and responsibilities that would accompany what is arguably the most demanding job in the world. No, he wanted to win, he didn't want to actually be President.

This has been a 4-year long experiment in malignant narcissism, and it's exactly what I'd anticipate if an unqualified, adderall snorting failed businessman accidentally became President.
    Back off, Warchild.

    Seriously.
