This is false because beef, chicken, sheep etc also need crops to eat. An insane amount of crops are harvested just to feed animals that will be eaten later, a small fraction of that could feed a LOT more humans.

So even more bugs are killed to make way for the cow's food than what would be killed just to eat the crops. The meat industry is a sustainability nightmare
When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.

The whole meat industry is retarded, insane amount of water and crops are used to produce a single pound of meat. Completely retarded and inefficient

Compared to beef chicken is a more "sustainable" option, but still cruel and unnecessary nowadays. All of the industrialized chicken is riddled with hormones and antibiotics too i don't know how it's even legal to sell that poison.

    ban meat
Funny how those images never talk about how many different life forms are destroyed when farming crops. The amount of rabbits, bugs, mice, and sentient animals killed from harvesting those crops, let alone the amount dying from the high levels of herbicides, insecticides, and chemicals, which also destroy soil and the natural biodiversity. You're literally slaughtering via bladed machines thousands upon thousands of animals and insects when harvesting en mass crops.

Here's my intuition on this subject. We have created our own monster. We have given up autonomy and pain for convenience and reliance. We went from growing our own gardens, having our own chickens for eggs and meat, having our own cows or goats for milk, and using local ranches for other meat, all for the ease and convenience of going to a big store that is stocked with food shipped in metal crates across the country for our satisfaction. Then we have the gall to complain about it.

You realize everyone on here can start growing their own fruits and vegetables? Even in urban areas. Go on youtube and look at the urban gardens people have. How about you go buy a little more land and a little smaller house, and buy some nigerian dwarf goats for milk, chickens for daily eggs, grow an assortment of vegetables, plant a couple of fruit trees, and start buying local food instead of buying big store government backed contaminated foods, crushing your local farmers.

You can fix all of this by doing it yourself. Virtue signaling on a soap box while you continue to buy from big chain grocery stores only makes you part of the very problem you're yelling against.

THEN guess what?? You're food intake isn't dictated by supply chain issues and government forced shutdowns! We used to, most of the population, farm our own food and trade locally with others. We gave that up for this chit, and now look.....we're calling it cruel and want to go back to the past.

the problem is population control. in 200 years it's gone from 1 billion people to 7 billion. that's why those numbers for chickens etc look crazy and why the earth is now fked

and because of the greedy corporations paying for laws we are no longer allowed to keep livestock on our own land in most of the countries.

brb, you could have cows, chickens at home, free milk, eggs, and pay a butcher to have 100lbs+ meat for your entire family a year. but no, big food needs to make its dollars

    23.7 billion chickens

The number of chickens worldwide has more than doubled since 1990. In 2018, there were some 23.7 billion chickens in the world, up from 14.38 billion chickens in 2000.

Maybe if we vaccinate the chickens we can cut the total population by 10%?

You're on the right track, but I completely disagree on the population issue. This world is completely able to hold and feed billions of more people. The real issue is what you pointed out in your second line. The government. They purposely crush small farms and homesteaders from being able to keep animals on their property (unless you're in rural areas), purely to take control of food.

This leads to creating excess food, which leads to excess waste, for nothing. All for convenience. We gave that up. It's our own fault. Now we're at the mercy of national supply chains vs. local harvesting, and when the supply chain breaks like recent events, milk/vegetables/fruits all get tossed out and thrown out. Completely wasted.

No one seems to actually give af though. They'll always talk about it, but never do anything about it.

1/4 pound of beef contains 300 calories, depending on how lean you buy it.

You need almost 6x that much kale (the vegan superfood), nearly a pound and a half, to get the same 300 calories.

How much water is required for a pound and a half of kale? How many bugs have to die for your meal? How low will your testosterone drop with no fats and cholesterol?

Lol @ chicken. There are denser meats that we could be talking about instead as well. Not everyone eats chicken all day, but that is what we’re working with in the discussion.

And just LOL if you think you can eat rice and beans for the rest of your life. You‘d miss out on so many nutrients your hair and teeth would probably fall out. And again, good luck with your hormone levels.

Agreed I do grow most of my own food and The quality and variety of produce I have tops what any phucken walmart has to offer. On the topic of devastation caused by agriculture that's true for industrialized agriculture, but agroforestry for example creates edible ecosystems that don't wreck the environment

How low will your testosterone drop with no fats and cholesterol?
bro again... Do you think the cow ate air in order for you to consume those calores?

You have to feed the cow more calories and water than what you consume from it.

Also you can get a LOT more calories per pound eating lentils, beans of chickpeas. No matter how you put it it's ALWAYS more energy and water efficient to eat the crops directly instead of feeding them to a MASSIVE mammal just to eat it later.

Maybe next time try to do a more fair comparison instead of comparing chicken to fukkin kale. I eat 3,5/4k calories every day easily so you have no idea what you are talkin about if you think you can only eat kale and broccoli, fukkin lmao
