there are far more chickens being eaten per capita today than were eaten in say the 60s. Also, if we take a look at how these chickens are raised (obv this many chickens cant be kept like catbrah in a backyard), youll see that the conditions are incredibly bad which could lead to bacterial or viral outbreak(s).

also also, when you consider a place like the US which has a very high concentration of chicken eatin', youll see that most of the chicken isnt being prepared in a "healthy" way... i dont think its by some bizarro coincidence that overall health has declined so rapidly as consumption of mass produced fast food has increased.

    QED too many chickens bro..

Erm no it wouldn’t be, where does the chicken get it’s calories from? Crops

Feeding an animal crops to then slaughter and eat the animal is always gonna be more ineffiecent than just eating the crops yourself

A chicken weighs 3 pounds. You’re kidding right? Do you think the same amount of crops feed a 3 pound chicken that feed 160 pound human? And you’re being dead serious?

Also, there won’t be hundreds of millions of chickens to kill/eat any more if we are not consuming them. They only exist for us to eat. So we won’t have to feed them those crops anymore. It’s going to be 7 billion humans eating probably 5x the crops we eat now (likely more) if we have no meat.

The total amount of crops is always gonna be greater in the case of feeding the animal to slaughter it. I’m gonna break it down for you

Let’s say I’m a human and I need 2000 cals to sustain myself

Now let’s say I eat 2000 cals of plants - this causes the death of X number of bugs

Now let’s say I eat 2000 cals of chicken- this causes the death of Y numbers of chickens and 5X of bugs

Because a chicken can’t harness all the calories from the plants perfectly and turn them all into muscle tissue, it’s not a machine that magically turns 1000 calories of crops into 1000 calories of meat, probably 90% of the total energy ends up wasted so 10k calories of crops are needed to create 1k cals of chicken or something like that

This is how food chains works, this is why there’s always a small number of predators, a larger number of prey animals and even larger number of plants for the prey animals to eat, and then past that an even greater amount of incoming energy from the sun

The further up the food chain you go, the more energy is wasted

theres no need to get offended m8. im not saying you should never eat another chicken in your life and we should ban chickens...

look at this logically instead of emotionally.

instead of people feeding their kids kfc 4 times a day... maybe they only go on the weekends a few times? maybe eat healthy the rest of the time instead of preheating the oven and stuffing in processed garbage previously deep fried chicken legs or w.e?

realistically, in that given scenario, what is there to lose? what is the downside to going that route?

You are not taking into account that calorie density of the food (chicken vs carrots for example). I’m not going to keep arguing with you about it. You are wrong.

Why does calorie density matter? Where does the chicken gets these calories from

    You are 100% wrong here,

Energy can be created or destroyed, only converted, a chicken cannot create calories, all the calories in the chicken come from food it eats, but the chicken is not 100% efficient at converting the food it eats into muslce tissue for us to eat, so a lot of calories end up being wasted. It’s always more effiecent to eat lower down the food chain, this is a universal rule of nature.

It’s irrelevant though, I’m talking about comparing 1k cals of chicken to 1k cals of plants. The plants we can just directly eat ourselves so it takes 1k cals of plants to give us 1k cals of energy. The chicken we have to feed it first so we have to feed the chicken 10k cals of plants to get 1k cals of meat.

So in the first scenario it took 1k cals of plants to feed us
In the second scenario it took 10k cals of plants to feed us

In the second scenario it took 10k cals of plants to feed us
Chickens have fat and collagen and other dense edible portions like organs. There is no such thing in plants.

Thus we would have to eat a much higher quantity of plants to make up for the missing calories and nutrients that we used to get from what nature provided for us in a chicken (and we’ll still be missing important things).

Okay, I eat meat but was just trying to point out your original point was objectively wrong. Seems like you’ve conceded that now which is why you’ve reply with something completley different

You’re the one who took us down the rabbit hole.

My original point, that many more bugs will die if we go to plants only, is 100% truth.

So my question remains to OP: why do you value the lives of chickens over bugs?

Funny thing is that one time we had an inspector control the “wellness” of the animals and he said everything was fine. I bertstared him for a couple minutes, wondering how the fuk were these conditions “fine”.
Worked there only for a month during summer break, but that chit was enough for me. This was on a small-ish farm aswell, cant imagine what goes on on bigger ones

Buy from local humane farms. It'll be $10 a breast, but it'll be far higher quality and you'll feel better about eating it

Factory farmin is phucken brootal and evil

The whole meat industry is retarded, insane amount of water and crops are used to produce a single pound of meat. Completely retarded and inefficient

Compared to beef chicken is a more "sustainable" option, but still cruel and unnecessary nowadays. All of the industrialized chicken is riddled with hormones and antibiotics too i don't know how it's even legal to sell that poison.

    ban meat
When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.
