I wonder what percentage of jobs have top 10% earners above 90k? Seems like the top 10% of just about anything would pull in similar numbers.

Becoming a electrician seems highly difficult and I bet most of the people who become electrician can also get college degrees and work office jobs. It looks hard as ****. Look at all the wires and **** they have to deal with.

You act like electrician jobs take less brains than most jobs that require college degrees.

A electricians job is just as hard as most office jobs i'm willing to bet.

A lineman is a someone who works on power lines, not at all what electricians are u less you’re counting the fact they deal with electricity. And that is a dangerous job. Just the other day there was a helicopter with its winch down and a lineman was hanging from it, being flown from transformer to transformer. Literally one misstep and you’re dead.

Here to teach you boys some shyt about the skilled trades(service). Their is very good money in it if you’re working commission and are a top seller 100k plus easily. If your are a top salesman who opens his own company you’ll do even better, The sky is the limit. If you suck at sales and good at your trade you’ll build a good base over time and still make money..

Point is if you are GOOD at what you do you’ll make bank, pretty well applies to everything in life to a certain extent.

    Good.

I sleep better at night knowing I am not going to burn my house down due to some wire I cant see.

I used to be part of a union. $60/hr is normal pay. The beauty of a union job is the OT pay, vacation time, weekend pay, holiday pay. When you start making that double time and triple time pay the paychecks are phenomenal. These average pay calculators never take the OT pay into consideration. I'm sure that's why you hear of the 200k per year electrician but never see the online statistics to back it.

That's like 30 minutes work for a journeyman electrician... but they have all the tools to get it done faster.

i mean for a framer or roofer yeah, that's true, but electricians aren't really doing backbreaking labor it's more just planning, keeping track of circuits and mentally crossing their t's and dotting their i's

yeah sometimes you gotta crawl around in an attic or crawlspace but it's not really "hard"

Double time? Triple time? Jesus. What is the point of money of all you do is work?

Literally took a 31K pay cut to work 28-35 hrs a week vs 90 hrs a week, haven’t regretted it a day. It is like having a life again and doing more than sleeping in my spare time.

I make double time any time I work on a Sunday or holiday, 1.5× anything after 8 or on
a Saturday with a 4 hour minimum if I take a callout (not mandatory, I choose if I go in or not). So if I catch a callout on a Sunday and end up only working 20 minutes that's 8 hours pay for that 20 minutes...

Double/triple time usually are based on what day it is, not a minimum number of hours. Although we also get double time for anything past 12 hours regardless what day it is.

I love working around trades. Can talk sht, no need to wear gay slacks, no political correct meetings, locker room talk, etc.

Residential and commercial maybe, but infrastructure spending is often a strategy for governments trying to offset the effects of recessions
