    Anyone use a ShouldeRok?

I have terrible mobility and I keep seeing this pop up on Kabuki's instagram and it looks like it might be a good product but I get a snake oil vibe with some of their other stuff so I was hoping to get some unaffiliated opinions on it. Anyone use one of these? Worth the money?

Haven't tried one. Always seemed like something that would be easy to DIY with an old standard bar.

I have a pair of 1 lb Indian Clubs I use to warmup with before shoulder and chest work. Never tried any weighted shoulder rotation work. Sort of spooked of it.

A sledgehammer or loadable mace could come close to simulating the movement.

That's what I did. Standard bar, cut shorter. I need to do this exercise more often.

Here's the standard bar DIY with pictures. I'd try this before dropping $200 or whatever they're asking for it.

Brilliant, I have Ironmasters so that is definitely worth a shot first. I think I can even score a free standard barbell. Would give reps but apparently I have to spread it around more. Thanks for the link.

    I have one

I have one, and initially used it quite a bit. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but I had trouble with it. Using it unweighted I had trouble getting into the rhythm of using it, weighted was even harder. One time I was swinging it like Kabuki shows and I actually strained something in my shoulder. After that healed up I went back to it one more time and then just sort of gave up. Now it gathers dust and cobwebs in my garage. Again, not saying it doesn't work or have benefits, I just never got the hang of it to reap those potential benefits.

This is the exact use scenario I envision for myself. Now I can skip it.

I used varying sized sledges for awhile. Worked quite well. Used a diy version and it didnt feel right. Wasnt comfortable with it. finally grabbed a Rok on sale and used it quite a bit. Really like it. But similar to the sledge hammer feeling for a lot more money! But the movement itself is brilliant. A fantastic warmup in my opinion.

As others have said, there are plenty of other ways to mimic the movement.

My gym has weighted "bars" that i just and swing in a similar manner.

My Shoulderok sits in a corner. Haven’t used it in two years probably. Two best things I’ve done for my shoulders are the Sanddune stepper and Crossover Symmetry. I recently bought a bandbell earthquake bar for overhead marches on the Sanddune. I suspect that will also be great for shoulders and core.

I was looking at the crossover symmetry before but it seems like a lot of money for what is essentially resistance bands. Have you done a write up on it?

Agreed on the earthquake bar. Between that and the shorty earthquake bar, and the rhino bars, my shoulder is almost completely pain free when using them. I still have to be careful when using a regular bar. But between the "kinetic energy" phenomenon and the "bend" that those bars provide, it works really well for my shoulder and on my joints/tendons in general.

I've had one since it first came out. I believe I might have been one of the first to pick it up at Chris's warehouse when he started selling them (Use to live in Oregon).

I personally love it and use it as a warm-up before every training session.

I use a DIY version that I put together for around $35 every single day. Has fixed all of the shoulder issues I was having and has helped develop shoulder strength as I have added weight to it.

Go to youtube and search for Diesel Crew. They have great shoulder rehab videos. Also look up DoggCrapp (sp?) broomstick stretches.

I'm late to the game here, but I haven't been using mine. Here are some random thoughts...
I find for rear & side delt work, I can target the muscles better than using the shoulderok, so it's always an afterthought. Keep in mind, I'm prioritizing strength/mass gains over mobility.

I have been having some shoulder issues lately, so maybe this is a good excuse to throw it back into the mix.

FWIW, the price is fairly high. I was excited for mine, but the fit & finish leaves more to be desired. I can't speak to the current product as it's been refined. I'd be curious to see what a local fabricator could do for the money if want to go that route.

I'm curious if shoulder dislocations are just as good as club swinging, at least for the best bang for your buck, time-wise.
