Watch Dbz Kai, avoid spoilers, hold out at least till the end of the Frieza/Namek saga.
You can still be saved.

You missed out. Saiyan-Namek Saga on Toonami was top tier. Later I watched episodes on VHS from a store which i think were ahead of what they showed on TV.

Dont listen to these gay fools saying to watch Kai. Watch the full uncut versions like we all did when we were young. (well we didn't have all the gore like you can today)
Watch Dragon Ball Remastered (millions of places in HQ dubs uncut online for free like kissanmie or animeultima) the English dubs from Funimation and then watch Dragon Ball Z Blu Rays and most of the movies. Theres a huge torrent that has it all.
Its a show about working out and being high test, eating, training, getting stronger, repeat.
The best anime ever. When it was on TV it was the highest rated show over literally everything else. Influenced a whole generation.
I watching it every few years start to finish. You can also fast forward through a few of the filler episodes but don't fully skip anything, at least watch the intro summary of each episode of even Dragon Ball original.
Its actually a breeze to watch them today with total control of all episodes. unlike when we were kids with the long Cartoon Network cliffhangers and having to wait till the next day to watch the 2nd half of a power up.
Now we are living in DBZ luxury.
I also recommend watching some of the behind the scenes Funimation specials so you can see the process of making it both by Toei and Funimation.
look for a torrent called Dragon Ball Z (1989-2019) BluRay DUAL AUDIO
It has so much good stuff

dragon ball and dragon ball Z are all u need to watch. GT aint bad imo, but everyone seems to hate it.
maybe im biased since dragon ball Z was a huge part of my childhood (and everyone elses that i knew), but it really is the GOAT.
i cant be fukt with watching the newer **** tho... seems to have gone wayyyy too far into the cringy anime **** as opposed to the epic hero story of the original series.

No, kai is not the way to watch it, that's not the original work. The same things dumbasses like you try to change about the original is exactly what makes it unique and special to fans who grew up with it and the marination of everything, the world building and character development and the pacing and oddities is what makes its all special.
its not only disrespectful its not as rewarding. Dont recommend it to people assuming they are a low IQ low attention span ******* like you. You're missing the whole point of the show and the nostalgia and flavor if you want to skip everything and shorten it to just the meat and potatoes which is shallow of you.
Its ok if you don't truly appreciate the show and want to butcher the original work, but don't assume or recommend that upon other people their first time watching it. No real DBZ fans recommend Kai, only ******* trolls and autists.
At best Kai exists for people who have seen the originals already and want a rewatch that is lighter a second time around after already seeing it all.Last edited by KingSWRV; 05-18-2020 at 07:46 PM.

The only people who recommend kai are ones that are scared their friends will think they gave a bad recommendation. Kai gets straight to the action without all the character development and those who recommend kai don't want to risk their friends getting bored watching a show they suggested. That's the only reason I can think of for recommending Kai over the original series.

The link above also has all the mangas original release dates included in this list while this pasted one doesn't have them.
For DBZ this is essentially the version you're after, (and get in the bundle I mentioned before) The UNCUT (full gore) Funimation DUB (best voice actors, the rare case English dub is better than original Jap voice (Goku sounds gay in Japanese and hella cool in English lol) and the epic Falcouner (famous composer that fused some unique crazy digital metal style to make it more epic than Japanese music) and these are pretty much the remastered elements of what we grew up with on Cartoon Network but with gore and less made for TV garbage. Its 1080p format with digitized and formatted zoom to look good on widescreen with the epic music in HD crispness. Unlike the old orange box uncut DVDs that used to cut off the heads in certain places since it wasn't a manual framing like the superior BluRays.

^the Blu-Ray sets on that list essentially. That site has everything. When you see a Vegeta power up in HD on a big screen TV with the epic music like 100 episodes in it will all make sense.Last edited by KingSWRV; 05-18-2020 at 08:07 PM.

No adult is going to watch 300 episodes of Dragon Ball Z. Getting someone to watch Kai is a stretch on its own. They'll quit after the 20th episode of Goku running on Snake Way with the ****ty voice acting and prehistoric poverty animation. The true DBZ is Kai (minus the music obv). All of the extra **** cut out of DBZ in Kai was trash injected into the story to make more episodes, was never part of the true story written by Toriyama - you support the trash version of the story. Outside of the music everything is better in Kai.
I will say that the Buu saga is much better in original DBZ form, they somehow made it look worse and injected worse dialog into the Buu saga for Kai, was nauseated when they mutilated Majin Vegeta's speech.#FreeCryptoBandit

Dragon Ball Z is highly recommended. Do not watch the remastered Kai version. watch the original english dub (english dub is better than the japanese original sorry fella's)
It is a show with incredible action scenes, awesome villains, and great humour! It pretty much created and defined an entire genre
I believe it is a show that a man of any age can watch and enjoy. I remember watching it as a kid and my whole family would sit on the couch and watch the 2 episodes that aired from 8:00 - 9:00 pm and were right in to it.
It was also very motivating to watch as a kid. Once I came across it and started watching it I started doing pushups and situps every day because I wanted to try and look like the characters in the showYellow Fever Crew

A lot of truth in this post. DbZ was generally trash after the goku-vegeta/goku-Frieza-supersaiyan cannon. Toriyama’s ass pulls went off the charts when Trunks came back from the future and they fought the androids, then somehow kid gohan turns out to be more powerful than Goku after training the the hyperbolic time chamber. So much cringe

the android saga was very unbelievable. how are androids built on earth stronger than frieza? it made no sense. Cell on the other hand was very believable to be stronger than the heroes just based on the nature of how he was created. I remember getting chills at how Cell was introduced to the show. 1 of the best and creepiest villains in all of anime imo
