Can confirm, DBZ is a religion. Greatest show ever made, I watch it till this day. I used to watch Vegeta's final flash against Cell every day before lifting srs. Was also pleasantly surprised by DB Super, thought it was gonna be sht but it wasn't bad at all. Zamasu saga was god tier literally.
Also OP, don't watch Kai. I don't know wtf they were thinking but honestly I don't even consider Kai to be DBZ srs. All the build up and power ups is one of the main characteristics of the show, if you don't watch that then might as well not watch it at all. I still get chills when I watch epic moments on youtube, especially Vegeta's scenes. His speeches are so phuking legendary man.

I honestly don't know if I can recommend DBZ as an adult. It was excellent for it's time, but there have been so many great battle shonen since that are better. DBZ is an iconic anime, but there are better ones now.
It's good though, don't get me wrong. The fights are hype as fuk.
DB is also good if you wanna start at the real beginning before super saiyans and space and stuff comes into play.***The Misadventires of Gandalf the Black***

The color is more accurate in the kai version, the Z orange bricks are over saturated and zoomed.
I like faulconers music for workouts and stuff but it tried to turn the show into something it wasn't, plus it never stopped!
I like some of his track like SSJ3 and Final flash, but none of them match this kind of emotion.
Nothing I post is serious.

-not going for accurate -if I was I’d watch the Dragon Box in Jap
-if anything Kai looks washed out and cheap/inconsistent
-the picture looks spliced in some places and cheaply digitized in others like they don’t match
-the voice is not better in any way just different and kills nostalgia
-nothing about it is better
-music sucks
-4:3 and washed out and no where near as good as the BluRay 16:9 picture wise
-lot of other sloppy downsides to Kai and it’s all over the place.
Once again you’re comparing the orange bricks from 20 years ago when we are saying to watch the blu rays.
Funimation has the source material they literally remade the BluRay version from the source with the most modern mastering of colors and framing so everything is perfect. The Orange Bricks are not the BluRays.
Kai isn’t even 16:9 and looks like a B-level project. I legit think you’re just trolling just to be a contrarian.
Again, the original pace is what we like and want. With the beats and choices of the Funimation dub with those characters.
“Tried to turn the show into something it wasn’t” isnt an argument because what it turned into is what made it famous.
Different isn’t better lol. Dumb opinion.Last edited by KingSWRV; 05-19-2020 at 11:03 AM.

Well no anime is better for bodybuilders because DBZ is literally about eating/stimulus/recovery = getting stronger which is all bodybuilding is. It’s focus on that purity is what is so golden about it. It’s simplicity is its strength. No other anime I know has ever given that simple formula as it’s main thesis so thoroughly and deliciously. Other shows people have powers because of magic or status but in DBZ the source of Gokus power is as simple as food and macros, same thing that powers is bodybuilders. There’s something uniquely charming about that and there’s constant examples of it.
And again I ask, what to do instead? Binge on some more SJW shows on Netflix?
It’s almost like a “kids show” from the 80s is more raw and real than an “adult” show from 2020 since everything has been taken over by liberal queers and censored thoughts and concepts.
A child show from the 80s is more masculine than anything allowed on TV today that’s a sad reality lol. It’s worth watching as an adult imo but you have to let it sink in and be patient and give it room to motivate you.Last edited by KingSWRV; 05-19-2020 at 11:14 AM.

So you're basically admitting you only like it better for nostaligia LOL. There's a reason people are saying Z doesn't hold up anymore, because the old dub was dumbed down for ADD crack head kids that needed music playing 24/7. Z kai is still a kids show but far more faithful to the series than the old dub was.
This video best summarizes how the Kai dub chits on the old one, goku in the old dub tries to be superman. Goku is not superman.

Well OP because you never watched Dragon ball Z growing up I am going to tell you what Goku taught me in these cliffs:
-Love your craft and you will succeed
-Never give up
-You discover new strengths when pushed to the limit
-Fight for those who cannot
-Treat everyone with respect, even your enemy
-The greatest power you can harness is the power of others
-You can always be better

No I’m saying I like the way it was originally better. Period. My subjective opinion likes the way it was with the beats that let the moments marinate.
I never disliked that aspect.
Goku isn’t Superman any more than Dragon Ball is Star Wars and Journey to the West and bits of LoTR and Enter the Dragon and an amalgam of many heroes/concepts/tropes and other mythologies all mixed into the fantastical world.
Dumb points made by trolls lol I can debunk you all day lmao
What Kai people never admit is that there’s 2 contrasting qualities interworked and it’s sometimes noticeable and is jarring and takes you out of immersion because the varying quality of pictures. It’s not a perfect flow of consistency like the 2013 BluRays.
Every element exactly the way I would want in the way I want it including picture and sound is what the BluRay is.Last edited by KingSWRV; 05-19-2020 at 11:36 AM.

Yeah a lot of people forgot Goku actually grows up in Dragon Ball in episode 133 of 150ish so it all starts getting epic even before the first episode of DBZ.
They never really aired those later episodes much in our childhood we mostly saw kid Gokus random antics early on but then by King Piccolo it’s already pre-DBZ territory.

U can prefer the heavily Americanized version if u want. But other than nostalgia I can’t see why anyone would prefer it. The acting alone is almost “the room” tier so I can’t even take it seriously anyway.
I liked the old z dub as a kid but not so much nowadays, same with the Star Wars prequels
I still love certain pieces of the old soundtrack
But ive grown to love the Japanese soundtrack and its martial arts vibe

I dislike the piccolo arc the most of the original dragon ball arcs. Power creep started to take off and Piccolo and Goku became FAR STRONGER than the rest of the fighters around. before that most of the characters were pretty relevant in how capable they were, they became irrelevant in the final piccolo arc. still one of the most epic fights thoughYellow Fever Crew

Well the one that was aired on Cartoon Network is a lot more made for TV bloat than the BluRay. So it’s not at all bad in any way anymore. It’s the perfect balance. CN was bloated, artificially hyper extended and censored. The Blu-ray’s are more like the original Japanese pacing. It’s right where I want it. Some of the beats but not CN level. But also not all chopped and screwed like Kai either.
It’s the perfect balance to me. There’s no way you can watch the 2013 BluRays and say there’s anything wrong with it. The tech they had a few years ago is way better than what they did on the orange bricks like 20 years ago.
Frieza sounds full and dynamic all the graphics and lines look HD, no errors or mistakes or dullness or bloat. Just pure Canon DBZ in widescreen 1080p glory on my theater projector.
Brb powerups light up my whole room while doing ab crunches lol
