This is some of the most exciting news I've ever heard in the gaming world, one of my favorite games of all time is getting a full HD/graphical remake.
Mafia 1 was a game I replayed over and over again when it first came out, it was my favorite game at the time and still holds a strong place in my heart. The story was absolutely gripping, the soundtrack was amazing, the gun play was fun, the racing missions were a blast, and overall it was one of the first times to me that a video game actually felt like you were apart of a movie.
Well now 20 years later it's getting a full HD graphical remake and if these screenshots are any indication, it will look amazing, I just hope it has the same soundtrack.

Why does it seem like we get more remakes than ever before? Are these games just super easy to remaster and therefore a cheap source of money for the devs?

I'd rather have a Mafia 1 remake than a Mafia 4 ... Mafia 3 was terrible and so I don't trust them with making a new one, I'm much happier with them completely graphically remaking the GOAT from the series.Originally Posted by freshnevafrozen

I don't know why they chose to release footage from Mafia II Remastered first, but I truly only care about seeing Mafia 1.
Based upon this video the Mafia II remaster doesn't really look like they changed anything, it looks almost identical to the original...

Steam says it'll be released in approx 17 hours... I kinda want to wait for reviews but at the same time Mafia 1 was one of my favorite games of all time and holds a special place in my heart so I want to buy it no matter what.

Only played Mafia II from the trilogy. It's a great game with some cracking missions. I love that 1950s atmosphere of classic cars and sharp suits. Some of the achievements are a pain, but eventually I got the 1000G.
Never touched the third as the reviews and comments were mainly negative.

I've played about an hour so far and I'm loving it, it hits a lot of nostalgia feels and they've done a good job re-creating the magic.
